Dear Friend First of all I would appreciate your decision as you have decided to become an IAS officer.Really its a good career option but you should keep one thing in mind that the path to success that is to become an IAS officer.You need to labour a lot as the competition is very tough .Strong determination and motivation is required in order to become successful in this field. As you have mentioned that you have done Bachelor's degree in business management ,you are eligible to apply for the Civil services examinations which is conducted by the UPSC for the different services like IAS,IPS,IRS etc as the bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university is the minimum requirement for the exam.Final year candidates can also apply for the exam. Well to get into this kind of job , all you need to have is your Graduation degree , which you are having it . After that you need to apply for IAS entrance exam which is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of May ( prelim Exam ) , and mans ( usually held in the month of ( Oct-nov) , whereas interview takes place in the month of ( Feb) . Well you need to clear all the three round with a good score . Then only you will be getting a chance to get selected for this job . To become an IAS Officer, you will have to pass all required stages that are mandatory to be eligible to become a IAS Officer in India and if you are BBM graduate then you can apply for Indian Civil Service Examination (Preliminary 2014) but your age should not be more than 30 years as on 01-01-2014 and if you have crossed then you may claim for upper age relaxation as per government guidelines that is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates Selection Procedure for IAS Post : Preliminary Examination : Two papers of objective type pattern and each paper contains 200 marks that are - General Studies and CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test. Passing in prelims is mandatory by scoring minimum qualifying marks including both papers Main Examination : If you pass prelims then you may apply for main examination that has 7 conventional type papers in which paper I has two sections - Section I will have essay for 200 marks and Section II will have English Comprehension for 100 marks. Paper II, III, IV & V based only on one subject that is General Studies but different parts of general studies will be asked in each paper then Paper VI and VII will be conducted on the basis of selected optional subject by you and you can choose any subject from the list provided in application form and both papers will be based on that one subject and all these 6 papers contains 250 marks each.
