First of all I would appreciate your decision as you have decided to become an IAS officer.Really its a good career option but you should keep one thing in mind that the path to success that is to become an IAS officer.You need to labour a lot as the competition is very tough .Strong determination and motivation is required in order to become successful in this field.

As you have mentioned that you have done Bachelor's degree in business management ,you are eligible to apply for the Civil services examinations which is conducted by the UPSC for the different services like IAS,IPS,IRS etc as the bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university is the minimum requirement for the exam.Final year candidates can also apply for the exam.

The age limit for the candidates of different category are as follows:

1.General category candidates :21-30 years.

2.OBC category candidates :21-33 years

3.SC/ST candidates :21-35 years.

Similarly the number of attempts is also category dependent that is four for general and seven for obc and no limit for the sc/st candidates.

This examination has three stages:

Its good to hear that , you are interested in doing IAS job . Well to get into this kind of job , all you need to have is your Graduation degree , which you are having it . After that you need to apply for IAS entrance exam which is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of May ( prelim Exam ) , and mans ( usually held in the month of ( Oct-nov) , whereas interview takes place in the month of ( Feb) .

Well you need to clear all the three round with a good score . Then only you will be getting a chance to get selected for this job .

To become an IAS Officer, you will have to pass all required stages that are mandatory to be eligible to become a IAS Officer in India and if you are BBM graduate then you can apply for Indian Civil Service Examination (Preliminary 2014) but your age should not be more than 30 years as on 01-01-2014 and if you have crossed then you may claim for upper age relaxation as per government guidelines that is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

Selection Procedure for IAS Post :

Preliminary Examination : Two papers of objective type pattern and each paper contains 200 marks that are - General Studies and CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test. Passing in prelims is mandatory by scoring minimum qualifying marks including both papers

Main Examination : If you pass prelims then you may apply for main examination that has 7 conventional type papers in which paper I has two sections - Section I will have essay for 200 marks and Section II will have English Comprehension for 100 marks. Paper II, III, IV & V based only on one subject that is General Studies but different parts of general studies will be asked in each paper then Paper VI and VII will be conducted on the basis of selected optional subject by you and you can choose any subject from the list provided in application form and both papers will be based on that one subject and all these 6 papers contains 250 marks each. Qualifying in all 7 conventional papers is compulsory to be eligible for personality test

Personality Test - 275 marks and if you score good marks in main examination then your selection chances will be higher for job so you need to score good marks then prepare for this test and take guidance from any successful candidate of this examination to qualify this test also

Now you have been graduate so you should start preparation for this examination and when you have completed graduation then you must join any good coaching institute for your better future because you have not tension at all about study of any other subject or course except preparing for ICS examination so contribute your 70% time for preparation and get your goal. because for IAS you need graduation degree from recognized college or university with any percentage.

for IAS your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. There is also available relaxation in upper age limit according to government norms as 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

to become an IAS officer you have to apply for Civil Services exam. The exam is conducted by UPSC.

Civil Services exam is conducted in three phases and you have to clear all the phases to become an IAS officer.
The three phases are CSAT(Prelims), Mains and Interview

there is also applicable limit of number of attempts like 4 for General, 7 for OBC and there is no limit of number of attempts for SC/ST candidates.
