Martial art have no direct requirement in Indian army,but as you are a martial art trained that implies you are physically fit and sound,that is really good.
It is very important that you be healthy and fine physically.

One can join Indian army through NDA(National Defence Academy).
It is a entry for intermediate students.

Though CDSE(Combined Defence Service Examination).
It is a entry for graduates in army.

TGC(Technical Graduate Course)
It is a entry for engineers in army.

SSC(Technical)-Short Service Commission Technical,it is also for engineers.

Hello friend,

Yes martial art help you in joining Army but you need to have certificate of this because you consider as a sportsman and through this quota you can join Indian Army.

There are many ways to join Indian Army.
1. Indian Army directly recruit candidates
2. UPSC recruits candidates for the Indian Army. For this UPSC conduct two exams NDA and CDS twice in a year on national basis and after getting selection you will get a post of second Lt. in Army.

For NDA exam your age should be 16.5 to 19 years and you have passed 10.2 exam or studying in 10+2.
For CDS exam your age should be 19 to 24 year and you have done graduation from a recognized university.

Dear there are two ways to join Indian Army through UPSC exams which are following as :

1. NDA - National Defense Academy Exam :

Indian Army/Military : Candidate should have passed in class 12th in any discipline from a recognized board

Indian Navy and Air Force : Candidate should have passed in class 12th with mathematics and physics as a compulsory subject from a recognized board

Age of the candidate should not be less than 16.5 years and more than 19 years

Start date for online application - 04-05-2013

Last date for online application - 03-06-2013

Date for UPSC NDA Examination - 11-08-2013

2. CDS - Combined Defense Service Exam :

Indian Army/Military : Candidate should have passed a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and age should not be less than 19 years and more than 24 years

Indian Navy and Air Force : Candidate should have passes a bachelor's degree with mathematics and physics as a compulsory subject and any one of the biology/chemistry/computer science and age should not be between 19-22 years for Navy and 19-23 years for Air Force services

1. Elementary Mathematics
2. General Knowledge
3. English Language
4. General Aptitude

Dear you can take any subject but you would have to get good command over all the mentioned subjects to get qualified in the examination so that you can apply with any subject and prepare for exam
