you are definitely eligible because it is govt. recognized university ,and one of the biggest open universities in the world so you

don't worry and concentrate on your mind on the preparation for the examination because there is only the requirement of a graduation

degree with a govt. recognized university .

you have to concentrate on the following criteria to fulfill them to become eligible for the examination.


Eligibility required:-


1. the candidate have the minimum educational qualification which is graduation from a govt recognized university .

2. only Indian candidates are allowed to sit in the examination .


Age requirements:-


the age requirements for different category are as under.


1. for general category the age permitted is 21-30 years.

2. the age criteria for obc category:- 21-33 years.

3. for sc/st category:- 21-35 years.


Number of attempts allowed:-


1. for general category student :- only 4.

2. for obc category aspirants:- only 7 .

3. for sc/st category aspirants:- no restriction.



so don't worry you are eligible but you have to satisfy the other criteria and requirements of the examination to be eligible for the examination.

- UPSC conducts CDS exam two times every year.

- Your are correct that this exam is entry in defence forces.

- You can apply for this exam.

- The minimum eligibility criteria for this exam is given below:

1. Indian Naval Acadamy:

-- Qualification: You should be BE. or B.Tech degree holder.

--Age: 19-22 years.

2. Indian Air Force:

-- Qualification: You should be graduate with Physics and Maths subjects.

-- Age: 19-23 years.

3. Indian Militry Acadamy:

-- Qualification: Graduation in any stream.

-- Age: 19-24 years.

4. Officers Training Acadamy:

You are eligible according to your educational qualification.
IGNOU is the largest university in the world and it is recognized by UGC,AICTE,COL,DEC,AIU and UNESCO.


Courses under Combined Defence Service Examination and their eligibility conditions
1)Indian Military Academy:-Unmarried male candidates only are eligible
Age limit:19-23
Educational qualification:degree from recognized university
2)Indian Naval Academy:Unmarried male candidates only are eligible
Age limit:19-21
Educational qualification degree in Engineering
3)For Air Force Academy:-Unmarried male candidates only are eligible
Age limit:19-22
Educational qualification: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering
4) For Officers Training Academy:-Both male and female candidates are eligible
Age limit:19-24

Do not worry about that you are eligible for CDS exam.

For CDS exam candidate must be graduate and also can apply in last year of graduation.
It does not matter that from where you are passing your graduation, only you should be graduate.

Eligibility Criteria :

>> Candidate must be graduate from any recognized university.

Age Limit :

For Indian Military Academy : 19-24 years

For Indian Naval Academy : 19-22 years

For Indian Air Force Academy : 19-23 years

For Officer Training Academy : 19-25 years

Hello

YES DEGREE FROM IGNOU IS VALID FOR CDSE.

Although IGNOU is a distance university,but is well recognized by UGC(University Grants Commission) and degree from is welcomed by CDSE.There is no requirement of having a regular degree.You are certainly eligible for CDSE.

Go through CDSE notification it will clarify everything.

IGNOU degree are eligible for any exam or any job across the country until and unless it is mandatory or compulsory for only regular courses.UPSC exams gives equal values to IGNOU degree as for degrees from any other regular UGC recognised University.So it is nothing to bother about eligiblity.You are perfectly eligible for UPSC or any other exams.

If you are willing to apply for UPSC Combined Defense Service then you need to have eligibility criteria as :

Indian Military Academy : You must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university and if you are pursuing final year then also you may apply for this exam but your age should not be less than 19 years and more than 24 years

Indian Naval Academy : You must posses a bachelor's degree in engineering in any one of the BE or B.Tech from a recognized university and age should be between 19-22 years

Indian Air Force Academy : You must have completed your bachelor's degree with physics and mathematics as a compulsory subject and age should not be less than 19 years and more than 23 years for this section

You are pursuing your bachelor's degree from IGNOU which is the top most ranked open university in the world and that is under the government so that you do not need to worry about this because UPSC board accept the degree of distance learning means you can apply for this exam between - 25-05-2013 to 24-06-2013 and you can appear for CDS - II examination at 08-09-2013
