Re: Is correspondence BCA course from TNOU valid to take IPS exam?

Dear minimum required educational qualification for IPS Officer Examination is -

A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute. If the aspirant is pursuing in final year of degree or appearing final year exam or waiting for the announcement of the result of final examination then also he/she may apply for this examination

Age limits are also necessary for this examination which are minimum 21 years of age is necessary and must have not attained the age of 30 years. 5 years upper age relaxation for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

There is no particular requirement of regular or distance mode degree to be eligible for this examination and if you have completed degree in open education then also you may apply for this examination but remember that your university/ institute should be recognized by UGC/ AICTE/ NAAC etc. under the norms of government

IPS Officer Examination (Preliminary) has been conducted in May 2013 and Main Examination for this recruitment is going to be conducted from 1st of December 2013 in which candidates will have to pass 7 conventional papers so you should not worry and just start preparation for Indian Civil Service/ IPS/IAS examination 2014 and try to prepare as you could pass in examination

Physical and Medical Standards are also checked in this examination and if you found fit and active then only you will be posted for IPS Officer rank otherwise you will get another rank or job in the civil services

Next IPS is possible around April - May 2014 so you should begin your preparation with the help of any good institute because you have completed your graduation so your only goal should be to become an IPS Officer and you should do everything for it that is why guidance is essential for you at this stage

    All the best

    Hey

If you are doing the graduation from correspondence then you can apply for IPS exam.
The main thing is that the graduation you are doing from the university must be recognized by UGC only after that you can apply for IPS exam.
So first confirm that is your university is recognized by UGC or not.
You must have age between 21-30 years for IPS exam.
So if your university is UGC recognized then you can apply for IPS exam.

If it is a government approved under UGC act and then you are eligible by that bachelor degree. And age limit is minimum 21 and max 30 for OC, 33 for MBC, 35 for SC/ST... And you can apply in your final year also if you are 21 completed by August 1st.

IPS exam requires a graduation degree from a Indian recognized university in any mode.

    1}. Educational Qualification

To be eligible for becoming an IPS officer, the candidate must possess a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification. Those in the final year of a degree course can also appear in the Preliminary Examination taken every year by UPSC.

    Maximum age 30 years.
The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
The upper age limit is also relaxed in favor of Defense Services Personnel.

3}. For IPS, the candidate must be a citizen of India.
