Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? Well age relaxation means extending the age limit over a given period of time, this only for some specific caste candidates only. There is no age relaxation provided for general caste students. The age relaxation as per the noms of UPSC (Union Public Service Comission) is given below For SC (Schedule Caste) & ST (Schedule Tribe) it is 5 years. For OBC ( Over Backward Class) provided 3 years and For physically disabled candidates have 10 years age relaxation. These above age relaxation is only for IAS,IPS and IES etc. ........All the best....

Relaxation to the above age criteria : - 3 years for OBC - 5 years for SC/ST - 5 years for Jammu & Kashmir candidates who had domiciled during the period of 1 january 1980 to 31 december 1989. - Upto a 10 years Maximum for DEaf-mute, Blind, orthopaedically handicapped candidates. And age relaxation for a SC/ST candidate is 5 years that means a SC/ST candidate can give UPSC examinations upto his 35 ( 5 years age relaxation hence 30 + 5 ) age. Same as for OBC candidate age relaxation is 33 years. and so on.. Hope you get the concept. All the best!!

Permission of Age that is been Prolonging from the Normal age criteria So generally AGE RELAXATION is given to the "" RESERVATION CANDIDATES "" This age relaxation is not applicable for the "" GENERAL CATEGORY CANDIDATES "" The age relaxation is as follows .. For OBC --- There will be relaxation of the "" 3 "" years For SC / ST -- 5 Years age relaxation For Physically Handicapped candidates -- 10 years So Reserved candidates get the age permission to the original age criteria UPSC conducts so many exams .. Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? This is not new we always find this column Age relaxations in all UPSC exam. did not follow this rule for example in NDA (National Defence Academy)entrance examination age should be at par eg. 16 1/2 years to 19 years. In case of CDS (combined defence service)entrance this is not viewable there is no age relaxations for Reserved category. We can see in UPSC Civil Services this rule is followed intoto.Age relaxation is given in UPSC Civil Services for example most of the Govt.Concern follow this rule differences is counted as OBC 3 years, S/C S/T 5 years, PWD: 10 years, as per govt.rules it is done. Govt rule is prepared on the basis of Indian Constitution. So that Purely Central Govt.PSU undertakings follow these rules strictly. Thank You,

Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? The meaning of age relaxation in upsc examinations means, if you belong to any reserved category such as sc,st,obc or pd category then upsc will provide you some age relaxation to provide more opportunity to the backward class of our society inorder to improve their situation. the general age limit for upsc exams is 21 to 30 years. but upsc offers an age relaxation of 3 years to obc category, an age relaxation of 5 years to sc and st category, an age relaxation of 10 years to physically disabled candidates. all the best happy learning!!!!

Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? Friend, please note that# For every UPSC Examination, there is a fixed age limit. In that age limit, there is a lower age limit and a upper age limit.# In Civil Service Examination, the fixed age limit is 21-30 years. Here, 21 is lower age limit and 30 is the upper age limit. It means that candidate below the age 21 years and above the age of 30 years are not eligible for Civil Service Examination.# But there is a provision of providing age relaxation in upper age for certain categories like OBC, SC, ST, PWD, EX-SM etc.# According to age relaxation, the age limit for above mentioned reserved categories would be as follows: * 21-33 years for OBC * 21-35 years for SC * 21-35 years for ST * 21-40 years for PWD
Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? dear friend, You will see that age relaxation term is associated with most of the competitive exam and that too much with government exams. UPSC is a government body which conducts many exams and so provides age relaxation for various exams. Age relaxation is related to age limit. For every exam a particular age group is provided to appear for the exam. Only those who lies between that particular age group can give the exam. There is minimum and maximum age limit for every exam. You will see that minimum age is same for all categories whereas there is an age relaxation given in maximum age limit for reserved categories. Like if you see Civil services exam age relaxation is as given below: >> For general category age limit lies between 21 to 30 yrs. >> For OBC category its 21 to 33 yrs i.e, 3 yrs of age relaxation given. >> For SC/ST 5 yrs of age relaxation is given i.e, 21 to 35 yrs. >> For PH its 21 to 40 yrs. For more information you can visit official website of UPSC.
Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? hi the age relaxation is the number of extra years provided by the government to the obc and the sc/st category students. Like for general category, the age limit for giving the upsc exam is 21-30 years. Whereas a relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and the sc/st category respectively. By giving the relaxation, the age limit for the obc category becomes 21-33 years whereas the age limit for the sc/st category becomes 21-35 years.
Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? Age relaxation is called to relief in age. We can understand it as that the age limit for the general candidates in UPSC exam is 21 to 30 years, for OBC candidates 21 to 33 years and for SC/ST 21 to 35 years. So friend after getting age relaxation reserve categories candidates get some more attempts to crack the exam. AS per government rules SC/ST get the 5 years relaxation and OBC get the 3 years age relaxation.
Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? Dear, There is certain age limit which is decided by the commissions or board for different posts. This age limit is compulsory for every categories of the candidates. But the age relaxation means to give some extra years to a certain category for encouraging them to be a part of the competition as they are backward in their own ways. The age limit for UPSC's CSAT is within 21 to 30 years. The age relaxation for the OBC is o3 years, i.e., up to 33 years and for SC/ST, it is 05 years, i.e., up to 35 years. Re: What is meant by age relaxation in government exams especially UPSC? Hello There is a definite age for applying in various exams.Similarly for UPSC exams also there are certain age limits. Now age relaxation means, you are provided extra years to apply for the exam. Suppose, for UPSC civil service exams, the age limit is 21 to 30 years, now if you are said that you can give exam from 21 to 33 years instead of 30 year, then you have been gifted with age relaxation. That is you can apply for extra 3 years. Now such type of relaxation is provided to backward classes,so that they can get greater opportunities to come forward and be in competition as they have their own issues. Like for civil service exams, the age limit for general category is 21 to 30 years, but for Schedule caste(one of backward class),it is 21 to 35 years. For more details visit the website of UPSC www.upsc.gov.in Also a old notification of UPSC civil services have been uploaded for your reference.
