To become an district magistrate then you have to become an ias officer. To become an ias officer you should clear the civil services examination conducted by the union public service commission. you can also write state public service commission examinations also.

after getting in to ias you will become an sub divisional magistrate the after some years you will be posted as district magistrate.

you can appear in the civil services examination conducted next year.the prelims will be scheduled to be held 0n august 24 2014.

you can also appear in the state pcs.

you can visit www.upsc.gov.in

similarly keep tab of your state commission' exam from the respective state commossion website.since you have not specified your state i cannot say any info on that.

The civil services examination consist of three stages namely prelims,mains,personality test.you have to clear all th three to get in to ias .
