Dear Aspirant,
You do not need to have good command on the higher mathematics like integration or differential calculus but the basis knowledge of mathematics is very important.

The IAS is a very competitive exam and one of the most toughest exam in India. Several candidates apply for the IAS exam and only a handful is selected. Thus you can understand that you have to work very hard to crack the IAS exam.

According to me you should starting to get the basic knowledge of the Mathematics clear and along with regular practice you will be able to develop with this subject.

Mathematics is very interesting you are able to understand it and get through its tricks.

There are also many other subjects which will help you to score good even if you could not do that much well in Mathematics but Maths is compulsory.

Its not an a major problem, you are definitely attend the IAS Exam, please follow the Instructions.
you select without maths paper in you college studies.
then complete that course, after finished degree apply the IAS exam, you select optional paper on without maths, you are definitely cleared on IAS Exams.

IAS Examination doesn't have sectional cut off marks so don't worry if you are weak in maths. If you perform well in other areas then you can surely qualify the preliminary exam.

Maths subject questions only comes in preliminary stage and that also are of 10th class level questions which you can solve if you have your basics clear in maths.

So don't worry and prepare for IAS exam without any tension. You have to cover your weakness by performing in other sections. Also remember that every section has some easy questions so don't leave maths and try to take a look at maths questions in the exam.

In the mains exam there is no maths so don't worry you have to just take care for preliminary exam.

If you are afraid of maths then get in touch with a good maths teacher and clear all your doubts. I am sure you can improve because maths needs just practice.

Friend, Yeah sure you can become an IAS officer,don't feel that you are weak in maths. Then it's OK but try to be ready with the general maths like addition, sub, multi and division as they might ask it in general aptitude in prelims... Rest the subject in which you are strong in should only be the subject that should be chosen by you for the mains subject

Friend, you can clear IAS exam even if you are weak in Maths. You should be strong in other subjects to clear IAS exam.

yes you are very much eligible for giving the IAS examination even if you are weak in the mathematics portion.
because it is not like this, that if you are not strong in the mathematics then you should not chose the subject mathematics or subject related to mathematics as your mains optional subjects.
Rest the subject in which you are strong in should only be the subject that should be chosen by you for the mains subject

hi friend,

To become an ias officer you need not have high command in higher mathematics like integral calculus,differential calculus but atleast some amount of mathematical knowledge is expected from you to run the administration smoothly.

to begin with you should be able to qualify the csat exam which means you have to be strong in aptitude,reasoning,data interpretation etc..so develop interest in the subject.i think your maths should be of this level.in fact this type of questions is interesting to solve also.

even for clerk level exam they are testing the mathematical skill of the candidates so what's wrong if upsc expects you to possess some degree of mathematical skill as you will be running high level administration after selection.so practice and develop interest in the subject to qualify this exam.it may take few months to develop from scratch but needed.
you can set targets and start practicing or take somebody's help if needed.

Yeah sure you can become an IAS officer,don't feel that you are weak in maths.You can go coaching classes for maths so that it will help you to increase your mathematical ability.IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service.It is an civil service exam conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Comission).There are three level in this exam1. Preliminary2. Mains3. Personnel Interview. .....All the best......

Hi,
You know that IAS EXAM CONSIST Reasoning Papers. Therfore you have to control on your math to crack IAS exam.

According to my view, You have to clear all basic concept of Math.

Generally this exam consist these exam;-

Preliminary exam which consist two papers of General studies having 400 marks.

Mains exam which consist Two papers of General studies, Optional subjects papers , Qualifying Language papers and Interview parts.

You have to clear these two exam to become IAS officer.

Therefore you have to join any Math coaching Center to crack IAS exam.

If you are weak in maths that's not a problem but you should be strong in rest all the subjects and its not advisable to take subjects relating to maths in mains exam... Then it's OK but try to be ready with the general maths like addition, sub, multi and division as they might ask it in general aptitude in prelims...

Friend, it is general mis-conception that mathematics is a tough subjects. But it is not true. Mathematics seems to be tought. But in reality it is not much tough. This can be illustrated with the help of coconut. As coconut has quite hard shell. It is too hard and strong from outside. But coconut is too soft from the inside. Similarly, we can make mathematics subjects easier and interesting. First of all, make keen interest in mathematics. This subject requires daily consistent practice which makes you master in that subjects. Always enjoy yourself while solving mathematical problem. Only daily practice is the key to success over mathematics.If you does not to work hard on mathematics subject, then you have to focus more on other topics in order to compensate the marks. You have to work hard on other subjects to get more marks in order to get place in the merit list.
