IAS stands for the Indian Administrative officer.In order to become an IAS officer ,first of all you need to become eligible for the civil services examinations and the eligibility for it is as follows:

Tips for Preparation of CS exam:
First of all manage your time table. Read 6th to 12th NCERT books. Read news papers and magazines and concentrate on English and GK. Keep solving previous year question papers.

you need to write Preliminary exam of Civil Service followed by Mains.

The qualification for the Civil Service is Graduation(Degree).

Coming to the Preliminary exam, it consists of General Science and Aptitudes.

And the syllabus for the Preliminary is cover everything intermediate level like GK,Biology, everything.

And the syllabus for the Mains is to select two subjects out of 25 subjects but a combo of same stream is avoided like (Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering).
And an Indian language out of 26 languages.

I'd suggest you to go through newspapers, history(Indian), Geography(India) And the problems arising in your state.

And reading the newspapers is just not the thing, you'd analyse the facts and analyse every stuff you go through.

The main important thing is to prepare notes of it. It helps you to reckon everything when you just have glance at it.

And preparing the notes is very good job because you'll never find anything in any book about certain topic which you surely find in dailies.
Go through two languages of dailies (one, perhaps English and second, your language).

And section of subjects for Mains depends on what course you do in your graduation.
After deciding the course, then go should go through previous year papers.

And you can also join a institute just 2years before writing the preliminary exam.

You should create your own time-table because proper planning and execution is more important for success.

More and more rehearsals are also important!

1.preliminary exam
2.main exam

In preliminary exam there are two exam

1.CSAT(history, English,G.K,current affairs, Geo,maths, chemistry,physics,bio)

It include all the mention subjects they all have different weight age as announce in the notification every time.

2.General studies

Main exam only for the selected who crack preliminary exam

1.Any Indian language
2.English
3.Two optional subject as choose by you while filling up the form.
4.Interview

The notification for civil service exam conduct at www.upsc.gov.in and also in employment news paper.

Academic qualification
One should be graduate from a recognized university

Age criteria :
One should be in the age group of 21-30 years (for General)
21-33 years for OBC candidates (Relaxation upto 3 years)
21-35 years for SC/ST candidates (Relaxation upto 5 years)

Permissible number of attempts:
Maximum of 4 attempts (General)
Maximum of 7 attempts (OBC)
No limit for SC/ST candidates

The selection procedure will be by
1)CSAT- Civil Services Aptitude Test
2)Main examination
3)Interview

The Bachelor degree in any stream in any university is the eligibility criteria to appear CSAT conducted by UPSC. So you have to check the UPSC website (www.upsc.gov.in) or the employment news at the time of December last week or January first week for the advertisement.

Hello,
If you completed B.A. then you are fully eligible for IAS examination. You have to fill up form online at www.upsc.gov.in. You should choose subjects for IAS Mains, you can choose History, Political Science, Sociology etc. or your own subject in which you completed your graduation in major.

If you have good writing skills you will crack this IAS exam. After cracking IAS you will go for the job of Central Administrative services or Indian Police Services etc.
