    EXAM PATTERN:-


    --The examination pattern includes both objective and subjective type questions.


    --English, Technical questions and General Awareness questions are mainly included in this examination.


    --In addition to this, candidates should select two optional subjects also.


    --Optional subjects include Forestry, Agriculture, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Agricultural, Mechanical and Civil Engineering Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.


    --Each paper is divided into two sections.


    --The time duration for each paper is three hours.

    YES , the union public service commission is planning to bring some changes in the pattern . exams like IAS,IPS,IRS,IFS are the main where the changes are expected .

    There are two successive stage of UPSc Exam;


    • Preliminary Examinations(Objective Type) for the selection of candidates for the main Examination.


    • Main Examination has two parts

    (i) Written
    (ii) Interview


    Preliminary exam will consist of two papers of objective type (multiple choice question paper) and carry a maximum of 400 marks in the subjects set out in subsection (A) of section - II.


    In Main Examination written Exam will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type in the subjects.

    The written examination will consist of the following papers :

    Paper I
    One of the Indian languages to be
    selected by the candidate from the
    languages included in the Eighth
    Schedule to the Constitution
    300 marks
    Paper -II
    English
    300 marks
    Paper-III
    Essay
    200 marks
    papers IV & V
    General Studies
    300 marks for each paper
    papers VI,VII,VIII & IX
    Any two subjects to be selected
    from the list of the optional subjects
    set out below.Each subject will have
    two papers.
    300 marks for each paper
    Interview
    300 marks

    As of now no such changes have been made known by the UPSC.
    Yes,there have some news to ring in some changes for the Mains exams but till no it has not been made official.
    So you need not worry,keep preparing and remain updated with the website of UPSC-www.upsc.gov.in

    yeah some changes are there in the question pattern for mains 2013
    but don't worry there are only some small changes which will not affect your preparation.

    i want to confirm that whether the pattern for mains 2013 will change or not?
