The dates for all the exams conducted by upsc have been declared.
you can visit the site www.upsc.gov.in and see all the details for yourself.
The syllabus of upsc exams differ depending upon exam.
Generally it includes general knowledge,information on current affairs,history,11th,12th PCM etc..

as far as the upsc exam dates are concerned:

go to the commission's website "www.upsc.gov.in"

click on the tab"examinations"

you will find calendar for examinations 2012.there you will know the date of notification and the date of examination.

The date of notification of upsc exam 2013 is not released yet. The duration of exam of UPSC for IAS/IPS is as follows:

Date for filling up application: 5 March 2012 Approx February-March Month.

Date of Notification: 4 Feb 2012 Approx February Month.

Date of Examination:

For Prelims 20 May 2012 Approx May month.

For Mains 5 October 2012 Approx October Month.
