Re: Is it true that IT and computer science engineers are not eligible for UPSC exams? Will I be eligible for UPSC exam 5 years down the line after my graduation (B.Tech in CS)? UPSC conducts a lot of examination like 1) The civil services examination 2) Combined defense services examination 3) Indian Engineering services examination 4) Special class railway apprentice examination etc you cannot apply for Indian Engineering services examination, in that examination engineering students from mechanical, civil, electrical and electronics only can apply. But for other examinations you can apply. The only qualification required is a degree from any recognized university. it can be in any specialization.
Re: Is it true that IT and computer science engineers are not eligible for UPSC exams? Will I be eligible for UPSC exam 5 years down the line after my graduation (B.Tech in CS)? A candidate is eligible for UPSC exams after graduation. Since IT computer science students are also graduates so they are also eligible to appear for UPSC exams. Dont put your ears on the rumors. Exams you are eligible are: Central Police Forces Examination (CPF) Civil Services Examination Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS) But being a IT or computer science student you not eligible for Engineering Services Exam. Only Electronics/Civil/Mechanical/Electrical graduates are eligible for this exam. So you can opt for the subject of your choice without any hesitation. all the best!

Re: Is it true that IT and computer science engineers are not eligible for UPSC exams? Will I be eligible for UPSC exam 5 years down the line after my graduation (B.Tech in CS)? Who says that IT or computer engineering student cannot fill the form of upsc? Any student who have passed their graduation in any stream he/she can fill the form of upsc. Not only upsc IAS/IPS exam but you are fully eligible for upsc IES/IFS exam i.e. Engineering Services or Forest Services exam also. To see it in upsc official site click here You are saying that you have 5 years down, but if your age is between 21 to 30 years then you can fill the form of upsc. If you are SC/ST candidate then you have 5 years relaxation in age. But, if you will cross 30 years to pursue your graduation then you cannot fill the form of upsc. Best of luck.
