Re: What are the major changes in the syllabus of UPSC mains? Dear friend, for upsc mains exam pattern as of now there is NO CHANGE. civil services preliminary exam syllabus was changed from 2011 exam onwards. for mains in the year 2009 the syllabus was reviewed and in the subjects like geography, pub ad and some optionals some portions were deleted but in some others some topics were added. from 2009 there is no change in the syllabus in any of the optionals and the pattern remains the same since then. you can very well continue preparation with the same syllabus till further announcements from the commission. all the best

Re: What are the major changes in the syllabus of UPSC mains? dear friend, The pattern of UPSC Civil Services Exam is totally Changed. You can get the posts like IAS, IPS etc. after clearing Civil Services Exam. for getting jobs you have to clear all the three sections of Civil Services Exam. 1. Prelims 2. Mains 3. Interview The pattern of Civil Services Prelims exam is changed now it is called CSAT(Civil Services Aptitude Test). In CSAT now there is no optional subjects. The paper contains two papers: Paper-I and paper-II. Both comes from general studies and logical and reasoning sections. And the pattern of mains is still same. and there is no change in the syllabus of the exam. Best of Luck.....
