IPS stands for Indian police Service this exam is conducted by union public Service Commission and this examination is conducted by Every year. Interest candidate to apply this exam the candidate should be have this eligibility criteria.

Nationality:- The Applicant must be a citizen of india or a Subject of Bhutan or Nepal.

Educational Qualification:- The Applicant should be complete the Bachelor degree or Engineering Degree in any stream from recognized university and final year candidates also eligible for the IPS exam.

Age Limits:- The General Applicant age limit should between 21 to 30 years and for the Other Backward caste Candidate age limit should between 21 to 33 years and for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Caste candidate age limit should between 21 to 35 years.

YES,Amol you are eligible as it is fairly true that this your course is recognized as equivalent to B-tech or so it is a eecognized graduate course which fulfill basic requirement besides check other condition also

UPSC can conducts the civil services examsfor( IAS,IPS) also conducts CMS,IES,CPF,CDS,IFS etc......
UPSC takes these exams every year.

IAS,IPS,IES,IFS exams can be conducts in 2 stages namely

Preliminary exam
Main examination.

After completion of preliminary exam you are eligible for Main examination.

After clearing the main examination you will be called for final interview.

Preliminary examination should consist of 2 papers.Which is conducted on objective type only.

Main examination should consist of 9 papers,it is a descriptive exam.

Eligiblity:


Education qualifications;

You have to pass your graduation in any recognized university.
Age qualifications:

Your age should in between 21-30 years.
Upper age limit will be applicable for ST/SC/OBC candidates.

No.of Permissible attempts:

4 for General candidates.
7 for OBC
No limit for SC/ST's.

Nationality:Indian.

You must be physically fit as per rules.

-The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible to appear for the UPSC Civil Service Exams is holding a degree of Graduation,or equivalent from an university recognized by the UGC or the authorized body of India.Candidates appearing in their final year are also eligible to apply.
-As you have mentioned above,the degree of Graduation you hold is equivalent to BTech,and if your university is recognized by the Government of India,then there is no reason why you can't appear for
-You must also fulfill the other Eligibility criteria ::
# Nationality :: You must be a citizen of India,or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan,or a Tibetan refugee settled in India before 1962.
# Age :: You must be of 21 to 30 years of age.The upper age limit is however relatedable by 5 yrs for the SC/STs and by 3 yrs for OBcs.
