IAS:- Indian Administrative Service

IPS:- Indian Police Service

IES:- Indian Engineering Service


To join IAS or IPS, you have to appear in Civil Service Exam.

To join IES, you have to appear Engineering Service Exam.


Both exams are conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) once in a year.



Eligibility criteria for Civil Service Exam(IAS/IPS):

-Candidate should have graduation degree from recognized university.

-Candidate appearing in the final year exam are also eligible to apply.

-Candidate age should be in between 21 to 30 years.

-Candidate must have an Indian citizenship.

>>Candidate should have completed BE/B.Tech in any of the below mention stream.

Dear friend,

the following are eligibility criteria:

a)AGE:
general category:21 to 30 years
obc:21 to 33 years
sc/st:21 to 35 years.

b)civil services:
the candidate must hold a degree of any of universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures of india or declared to be deemed as university under section 3 of the UGC act 1956.

for Engineering services you should havefollowing minimum educational qualification:

a)obtained a degree in engineering from anrecognized university.

so if you have a degree from a recognizeduniversity you are eligible.

b)obtained a degree/diploma in engineering froma foreign university which is recognized by the government of india.

c)passed sections A and B of the institutionexamination of the institution of engineers

etc...

Dear Aspirant,

1st of all I am very happy that you have shown interest in becoming IAS,IPS and to serve this nation.
To become an IAS officer you should have minimum education qualification of Graduation or Equivalent from recognised Board or University.
There is no minimum percentage requirement in Graduation to become IAS officer.
You just need to be passed i.e. Candidate who has scored 40% in Graduation can also apply for IAS examination.

Age Limit to apply for IAS examination is between 21 Years to 30 Years for General Category Candidate.
Age relaxation benefit is given to Reserved category like SC/ST/OBC etc.
Relaxation is as per the UPSC Guidelines.

So as long as you posses the above criteria you are perfectly eligible to appear IAS examination.
But my friend IAS examination is considered to be one of the toughest exams in the whole ASIA.
So you need to study rigidly to prepare yourself.
You need to start preparing for IAS for atleast 1 Year in advance to cover each and every section of examination.

The posts like IAS, IPS, IES etc. comes under the examination of CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test). The essential qualification is to pass the Bachelor degree at any recognized university in any discipline. The age limit is within 21-30 years and the upper age limit is 03 years for OBC and 05 years for SC/ST candidates. The attempts to appear for the examination is 04 attempts for General candidates, 07 attempts for OBC candidates and unlimited attempts till the last upper age limit for SC/ST candidates. 1. must be university graduate form reconised university or equivalent.
2.Age criteria :
One should be in the age group of 21-30 years by 1st August of the year in which the examination is going to be conducted.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for Ex-service man.

Eligibility criteria:

All the three examinations IPS,IAS,IES are conducted by UPSC every year.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative services



IPS stands for Indian Police services



Both the examinations comes under the category of civil services examinations.

Required eligibility criteria for IAS and IPS:

Graduation in any stream from a recognised university.If it is done in correspondence then it must be approved from DEC( distance education council).

Age criteria:

General: 21-30 years

OBC:21-33 years

SC/ST:21-35 years

Nationality: Indian.


IES stands for Indian Engineering services.




Academic qualification:

>>B.tech/B.E in any of the specialised trades such as civil,mechanical,electrical and electronics.

Age limitations similar to civil services.
