The age limit for obc category is 21-33 yrs and you can choose any optional for the mains from your graduation or the list given for other optional.Also you the optional which are easy for you to prepare for so that you can score good in them ..

The Age Limit for the Various cast is below :
21-30 for general cast
21-33 for obc cast
21-35 for sc/st cast
21-40 for physically handicapped

Incorporate to age limit you should also fulfill the education qualification also like
=> you should complete the graduation form any recognized university in any stream .


For the main exam one can select any two optional subjects from the below list :

Botany

But first of all you have to pass the Preliminary exam because without passing that you can't go further .

So start the preparation for the preliminary exam first so that you will pass that exam .

ATTEMPTS PERMISSIBLE: 7 attempts

OPTIONAL :

there is no such optional which is scoring and safe.

Upsc strikes perfect balance between the various optionals by various ways.

an optional becomes marks fetching through your hard work.

an optional has to be selected based upon your interest,availability of study material,proper guidance, well defined syllabus etc..

first go through the syllabus and then decide the one which will suit you the best.

dont choose an optional because it is scoring.

the following are the famous optionals among the aspirant:
History,geography,political science,public administration,psychology,sociology,philosophy,lit eratures,etc..

the optional subjects allowed for the upsc civil services MAINS EXAMINATION are

Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science,
Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy,
Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History,
Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science,
Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations,
Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,
Statistics, Zoology.

some subject combination that require almost similar preparation are not allowed.like

age require for this exam is 21-30 years but the obc category aspirant are subjected to age relaxation of three years
so the age limit for the OBC category is 21-33 years ..

7 for obc
no limits for sc/st.

there are 25 optional subjects. based on your interest & knowledge select any 2 subjects.
collect syllabus & materials for that subjects.
start preparing.

you had not said your field of graduation so it is hard to say that which subjects you must choose for UPSC.
but if you are from arts background you can choose geography and history.

AGE Limit For OBC candidates:

21 years to 33 years.

Hi dear

The selection of Optional Subject is a crucial choice for your carrier and it has a great impact on your Exam results.
So you should select them wisely keeping all factors in mind, because its you who will have to study them.
You should first focus on the subjects you have studied in your graduation and if you are not comfortable with them then you may opt for other subjects which are interesting to you and you are sure that they can be studied in the given time.

Regarding age limit for the OBC Candidates : The upper age limit for the OBC Non-Creamy layer candidates is 33 years and for OBC Creamy layer candidates it is 30 years.

Hi there!

You can select two optional subjects in which you're thorough.
Select one optional on which you did your graduation and another an easy optional like 'Public administration' or in whatever you're interested. But most people go with 'Public Administration' because the content in this is small till graduation level.
You can select two optional subjects from a list of 22 subjects.

And should you have to select an Indian language from 28 Indian Constitutional language, so you better go with the mother tongue on this.

Remember that only purest of the pure are recruited into the job. So the bells of victory should always ring in you while preparation and producing your answers.
