Yes being a graduate you are eligible to apply for IPS exam.

ELIGIBILITY FOR IPS:

Academic Qualification:
-One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university.
-Candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Graduation course and waiting for the result can also apply for this Exam.

Age criteria:
-One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this Exam.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category.

UPSC Prelims Exam Syllabus 2012

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
Current events of national and international importance
History of India and Indian National Movement
Indian and World Geography
Indian Polity and Governance
Economic and Social Development
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change
General Science.

Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level)
Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

I am dibya in btech 2nd year student .i wants to know all those 23 opt paper for ips examination.

This exam's registration starts in the month feb-march and preliminary exam in may and main exam in nov-dec

there is no separate exam for IPS
it comes under civil service exam
last date for filling the form is 8 march,2012
and prelims will be on 20 may,2012
as you are in final year student so you are eligible for this exam

Of-course you can apply IPS examination till 1 April 2012 till 11:59 pm. If you are appearing in final examination of the university then you can apply for the IPS examination.

Of-course you can apply online for IPS examination till 1 April 2012 till 11:59 pm. If you are appearing for final exam of university then you can apply for the IPS examination.

Firstly,IPS is a post offered on success in the Civil Service exams,it has no seperate exams.
Yes,you are absolutely eligible for the Civil Service exams being a final year in BTech.
But The last date for online applications for C.S was supposedly th 8th march.
and the prelims will be held on the 20th of May.Those who succeed will proceed to the mains.
so i doubt you might have missed filling out the form this year.

Paper 1

General Studies: For this exam you will have must study current events, Indian history of India, global and Indian geography, Indian economics and polity. This paper will require you have an understanding of normal day to day issues. You are not expected to have specialized knowledge on any subject, but a common understanding is necessary. You must know current national and international events and have detailed knowledge of history of Indian political system, society and economy.

Paper 2

Optional Subject: For this exam, each candidate has to choose one subject from a wide list and prepare for it. This optional subject depends on the type of job that he or she wants to take as an IAS officer. One can choose anything from animal husbandry to philosophy, from law to political science. There are about 23 different subjects from which the candidates can choose their favourite subject. The syllabus to each of these subjects is very diverse.
