Examination Pattern for UPSC Indian Engineering Service Examination :

    Section I - Objective Papers :

General Ability Test - General English and General Studies - 200 marks

Engineering Paper I ( That you opt from the available list for test) - 200 marks

Engineering Paper II - (That you opt from the available list for test) - 200 marks

You will get 2 hours for each paper for objective section

Section II - Conventional Papers :

Engineering Paper I - (That you choose from any one of the Civil/Electrical/E&T/Mechanical) - 200 marks

Engineering Paper II - That you choose from any one of the Civil/Electrical/E%T/Mechanical - 200 marks

You will get 3 hours for each paper for descriptive section

Qualifying in all papers is mandatory that are mentioned above and you may also see that there will be four papers conducted for engineering subject that you choose so you should concentrate more on your specialization subject or selected subject of examination and prepare well and you may use these good books to prepare for this examination :

ACE engineering publication for Electronics and Telecommunication - UPSC IES examination

UPSC Engineering Service Examination - E & T book by Deepak Gupta

Chapter Wise Solved Papers for UPSC IES examination - E & T Subject by Arihant Publication

Electronics and Telecommunication Conventional Papers Guide by Made Easy Publishers

If you are preparing at home then you should give at least 10 hours everyday and try to complete every book more than 10 times before examination then only you will be able to write good answers in examination and your answers will be selected for interview process so work hard on this subject and also prepare for other subjects too and if possible then join any coaching institute then you will get complete study material and guidance for examination

    All the best
