Re: Can I give UPSC exam being a railway employee at the age of 35 years? What is the age limit for UPSC exam? Is there any age relaxation for government employees? No there are no age limit relaxation for the Government employee , age relaxation is just for the ex-serviceman who complete their job in army , navy or air force . All other have to fulfill the same criteria as mentioned by the UPSC like Education Qualification : minimum graduation from any recognized university in any stream . or a final year student also eligible for the exam . AGE LIMIT: 21-30 for general cast 21-33 for obc cast 21-35 for sc/st cast 21-40 for physically handicapped . As your age is 35 so if tyou belong to general cast or obc cast then you can't eligible for the exam . But if you belong to sc/st cast then you have only one chance left for giving the exam . So try your best so that you can selected in your first attempt . best of luck

Age limit to apply for UPSC Examination is between 21 to 30 Years for General Category Candidate. Age relaxation is provided to reserved category candidates. So if you are applying under General (UR) Category than you are not eligible. And if you come under a reserved category of SC/ST than you can apply it provided you should have necessary documents when asked to present it. There is no relaxation for Government Employee currently working with Government. Though most of them mentioned that you are eligible in Ex-Servicemen, but they are wrong. Ex-Servicemen means who have worked with government and than retired, like para - military personnel of BSF, CRPF Etc. So if you come under General Category than unfortunately my friend you are not eligible. Today millions of candidates apply for competitive examination in a hope to work with government. So you should be happy that you are Railway Employee assisting our Government. Regards.
Re: Can I give UPSC exam being a railway employee at the age of 35 years? What is the age limit for UPSC exam? Is there any age relaxation for government employees? Dear sir, Even though all the replies for your question is 'YES', i wish you confirm once again that "Ex-government employee" and "Ex-service men" are one and the same. As per the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, "Ex-service men " means those persons who have completed their stipulated service period in Defence sector or those who had retired halfway injured. Also to the members who have replied....i request them to confirm it with strong evidence
