Yes you are eligible for it and the eligibility for the civils are :

*You have passed your graduation from recognized university.

*Age limit 21-30 yrs..

The exam is done in three phases:

*Preliminary
*Mains
*Interview..

The candidates who crack it are categorized for the various posts and they are:

*IAS
*IPS
*IRS..

Hi Aspirant,

Yes friend, you can also write civil service exam after completion of engineering. You can also apply for civil exam while appearing final year of graduation.

UPSC organizes the civil service exam once in a year for the following category of post

IAS

IPS

IRS

It is the toughest exam of Indian and 2^nd toughest exam of the world after French civil service.

To apply for civil exam you must satisfy the criteria for civil service exam.

You should be graduated in any stream from recognized university or its equivalent. You can also apply for this exam in final year of graduation. There is no restriction of marks in graduation.

You should be in age of 21 to 30 years. There is also age relaxation for reserve category.

For SC/ST + 5 years

For OBC + 3 years

For PH + 10 years

You should be the citizen of India. You should be mentally and physically fit.


Civil service exam is accomplished in three stages: Preliminary, Mains and Interview.

Preliminary exam caries 400 marks, mains exam carries 2000 marks and interview carries 300 marks.

You can apply for Civil service exam in 2013. UPSC is going to release the notification for civil exam on 2/2/2013 and last date of application 4/3/2013 while pre exam will be held on 19/5/2013.

There are various categories in UPSC . You can opt one which lies under your Engineering Course , or the subjects where you think that you can excel.

The below paragraph in quotes best describes the Civil Services Examination.

The examination comprises of nine papers, all of them of a descriptive type conducted within a span of 20 days.

It is designed to test not only the academic talent of the aspirant but also his ability to coordinate and present his knowledge in a clear and coherent manner.

The Examination is intended to assess the overall intellectual traits and depth of understanding of candidates rather than merely the range of their information and memory.
The scope of the syllabus for the optional subject papers for the examinat ion is broadly of the honours degree level i.e. a level higher than the bachelors degree and lower than the masters degree.

In the case of Engineering and law, the level corresponds to the bachelor's degree. "

Since you have completed Engineering , You are eligible for UPSC.

You can use two of your stronger subjects from the list and can apply.
