As you know that both are highly reputed post and salary is from 19000 to 39000.Both post are very famous due to the reputation not due to salary.Govt offer accommodation facility,Vehicle for travel during working hours,and many other facilities are provided by govt.Any graduate can become IAS but only Engineers from following branches -

Mechanical
Civil
Electrical
Electronics and communication engineering.

There is no comparison between any two branches as all the branches are different and their fields are very far from each other.As all the IES officer will get same salary and other facility so it's totally depend on your interest that in which field you want to make your career.

Age limit -21 to 30 years.

No of attempts for IES-

General -4
OBC-7
ST/SC/Female-Unlimited.

salary of these two post are;-

20000 to 300000

both civil and mechanical branch are good.

according to my view,
civil engineering branch is good as compare to mechanical branch.

I want to tell you that there is same salary for the IAS,IPS,IFS,IES services.

The salary lies in between 20,000-40,000 rupees per month.

If you want to know that which branch is better in between mechanical and civil then i want to tell you that both the branches are very good and the most important thing is to clear the exam which can be from any branch is supposed to be brilliant.

salary .i.e
20,000-40,000.ies and ias
exams are conducted by
upsc .for both exams age
of candidate not less than
21 years and not more
than 30 years.for to
appear in that exams is
your choice to take either
mechanical or civil.

pay scale of an ias oe ies is relatively same it doesnt differ much.....
first of all which branch u r studying with matters , any way since seat in civil engineering is much moore comparing mechanical engg hence it is better for an civil engineer

IES and IAS officers are given the same salary amount,i.e,Rs.20,000-40,000 alongwith the other facilities.And talking about the streams which you have asked,both have equal weightage in the IES exam and they are both important job sectorcs in their own way.It cannot be differentiated like that.Still,if you ask me,Mechanical is the most important amongst all the four streams of IES.Good Luck!

20,000 salary is withdrawn at probationery period where as all central govn emloyess receive 40,ooo rs. basic amount !
