if you have completed your graduation in any stream from the recognized university then you can appeared IAS EXAM.

IAS EXAM conducted by UPSC.


AGE LIMITS:-


general candidates :- 21 to 30 years

obc candidates :- 21 to 33 years

sc/st candidates :- 21 to 35 years.

To become an IAS Officer you have to appear in the prestigious Civil Services exams conducted by UPSC.
Eligibility for CSE :

Educational Qualifications :
Graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognised University.

Since you are an English Literature graduate from arecognised University you are eligible to apply.
Age Limit :
General Category-21-30yrs
OBC-21-33yrs
SC/ST-21-35yrs

Attempts :
General Category-4 times
OBC-7 times
SC/ST-Unlimited times

Yes, Every graduate are eligible for UPSC exam.

1. IAS stand for 'Indian Administrative Services' it comes under Civil Services Conducted by 'Union Public Service

Commission' .

2. A candidate can apply if he/she belong to the India, & some neighboring(Bhutan & Nepal) Under some rule and

regulation.

3. For applying in IAS exam a candidates age must be between 21- 30 years.And three years relaxation for OBC, Five

years for sc/st or government servant.

4. 4 attempts for general candidate , 7 attempts for obc candidates & no limit for sc/st candidates.

5. A candidates must be graduate from a UGC recognized university.

6. Procedure for IAS exam
* Preliminary
* Mains
* Interview

7. Paper taken in Preliminary & Mains.

* Preliminary -: 2 papers both are General Studies.
* Mains -: 8 papers ( 4 optional papers, 2 compulsory,1 General study ,1 Language papers)

FOR OBC CATEGORY:- 21-33 YEARS.

FOR SC/ST CATEGORY:- 21-35 YEARS.

NO OF ATTEMPTS:-

FOR GENERAL:- 4 ATTEMPTS.

FOR OBC :- 7 ATTEMPTS.

FOO SC/ST :-NO ANY RESTRICTION.

AND YES THERE ARE AN AGE RELAXATION ALSO FOR CENTRAL GOVT. EMPLOYEE AND PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED PERSONS OF 5 YEARS AND 10 YEARS RESPECTIVELY.

Yes you can write the IAS exam after having degree in English literature.
Since the educational qualification specified by UPSC is as follows:
The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recongnized university
Final year degree students who will obtain degree by August 1, 2013 are also eligible for CSAT 2013
The degree can be of any class (distinction, first, second etc.)
Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is a recognized university....
