Dear There,

The UPSC has set different age eligibility for candidates belonging to different categories for taking up IAS examination.

The age eligibility for each category candidate is as follows:

* General Candidates - 21 - 30 years

* OBC Candidates - 21 - 33 years

* SC/ST Candidates - 21 - 35 years.

As per the quota rules OBC and SC/ST candidates have relaxation in upper age.

Other eligibility to take up this examination are as follows:

* Graduation from any recognized college/university in any stream.

* Citizenship - Indian

* Fitness - Physical and Mental Fit.

Civil services examination is the exam which is being conducted by the upsc once in an year.
For giving this exam, you need to be a graduate from a recognized indian university and you should be of minimum 21 years.
There is no fix upper age limit for giving this exam, as it is different as per the category.
For the general category, the maximum age to give this exam is 30 years, whereas for the obc category the maximum age is 33 years and for the sc/st category the maximum age to give the upsc civil services examination is 35 years.

Age Limit For Civil Services Examination :


A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on date of exam notification.
The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable :
1) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.
2) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
3) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.
4) upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.
5) upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2012 and have been released .
6) upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2012 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three months notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.
7) upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf - muteand orthopaedically handicapped persons.

Dear aspirant,There are upper age relaxation for the candidates who are SC/ST 5 years and who are OBC-3 years, as the age limit for the general category is 21 to 30 years.If you want to apply for the sane then hurry up forms are out right now, and last date for filing an application is 4 march 2012.You must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised university to apply for civil services examination.There will be first exam you need to give is CSAT it comprises two papers 200 marks each.After that exam you need to qualify the MAINS exam that comprises of 2000 marks.If you are not able to qualify the same then you will be rejected or if you clear the exam then you will be called for the personal interview.Thank you.

These categories have some relaxation in the upper age limit.

The upper age limit for different categories, as prescribed by UPSC are -

For general category - 30 years.

For OBC category - 33 years

For SC / ST category - 35 years

This is applicable for civil services exam.

Besides this, it also requirs candidate to be a graduate.

The UPSC is the governing body which conducts the civil services exam.
for this exam Indian citizenship is a must.
Only those candidates who have completed graduation irrespective of discipline of graduation can appear for the exam.
other condition is that the degree should be from a recognized university.
the age limit for the exam is of 21-30 years.
the candidate should not be less than the lower age limit(21 years) at the time of exam and neither over the upper age limit i.e 30 years.

for reserved categories their are age relaxations available.
for SC/ST candidates the upper age limit is of 35 years.
and for OBC category candidates it is 33 years.

there is also a limit on the number of attempts allowed in the exam.
for open category the attempt limit is 4 times and for OBC category it is 7 times.
There is no limit on number of attempts that can be made for the exam for SC/ST candidates.

Candidates those who wish to apply for this exam should be between 21-30 years in age and this age limit is applicable only for general category candidates but the minimum age limit is applicable for every category candidates which is 21 years but reserved category candidates gets relaxation in upper age which is 5 years for SC/STs, 3 years for OBCs, 10 years for PWDs and 5 years relaxable for Ex-Servicemen Candidates
