The Basic concern of cusots service is taxation of goods that are brought in the country. For Custom Exam you have to write civil services exam conducted by upsc. Many posts are offered in this exam, one such post in Indian Revenue Service (Custom and Central excise group 'A') This exam is conducted in 3 Stages

1. Preliminary Test:
It consisted of two objective exam. One for General Studies carrying 150 marks and one for an optional subject choosen by candidate carrying 300 marks

Civil Engineering
Commerce
Economics
Electrical Engineering
Geography
Geology
Indian History
Law

Mechanical Engineering
Medical Science
Philosophy

2. Main Examination:
It consists of 9 paper and two of them are qualifying in nature.

Paper-I One of the Indian Languages to be selected by candidate : 300 marks
Paper-II English (Qualifying) : Marks 200
Paper-III Essay : Marks 200
Paper IV & V General Studies (300 Marks for Each Paper) Total marks 600
Paper VI,VII,VIII & IX Any two Subject(Each having two paper) to be selected by candidate : 300 marks for each paper total marks 1200


3. Interview Total Marks 300

Candidate who qualify main exam are called for a personal interview.

To become a custom Officer you have to fulfill the following requirements :-

You need to be:
Alert, Diplomatic and discreet
Fluent in English and local languages
Above average at organising
Excellent at communicating
Extrovert, dynamic, meticulous
A strong leader
Aware about national and international affairs.
Interested in human affairs
Physically fitBut above all, you have to qualify through the Indian Civil Services examination. Very few manage to get through the ICS examination. Thereafter you can opt for different services based on your preference and ranking in the examination.

Eligibility for ICS exam:-

*The candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade..
*The candidates age should be in between 21-30 years.

These are the eligibility criteria you have to fulfill to appear in ICS(Indian Civil Service) exam..
