Eligibility for IES - Indian Engineering Services Exam 2012

You must have a bachelor's degree in engineering discipline from a recognized university in any one of the following subjects :

Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation, Information Technology etc.

Your age should not be lesser than 21 years and more than 30 years and if you are in reserved category then you will get the relaxation in upper age which is 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBCs.

Attempts for this exam is allowed as category wise which are following :

1. General Category Candidates : 4 times

2. OBC Category Candidates : 7 times

3. SC/ST Category Candidates : No limit but till 35 years of age

Dear Aspirant,

Engineers are eligible for IES ( Indian Engineering Services exam).

For IES exam you should have done your Engineering in fields like Civil , Mechanical, Electricals and Electronics .

The age limit for this exam is similar to the IAS exam that is 21 to 30 years of age.

There is age relaxation available for SC/ST, OBC , Physically handicapped and Ex servicemen.

The number of attempts are limited for general(4) and OBC (7)and unlimited for SC/ST.

You have to pass the objective type paper which will have questions from your respective field.

You also have to pass a technical test according to your field.

#You must be a citizen of india,or a subject of Bhutan,Nepal or a Tibetian refugee settled here long back.
#You must lie within the age limit of 21-30 yrs if general.There is a rexation by 5yrs for SC/ST and 3 yrs for OBC.
#You must hold a BTech or a M.S degree or you are appearing the final year for the same.

CANDIDATE APPEARING AT THEIR ENGINEERING DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT EXAMINATION ARE ALSO ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE.
