Hello

Actually the fact is that as per UPSC eligibility criteria for IES(Indian Engineering Service) exam,the candidates who have engineering degree in any stream are eligible for IES.
But they have to apply under four category,as there are only four category available and those are
1)Mechanical Engineering
2)Civil Engineering
3)Electronics and Communication Engineer
4)Electrical Engineering

Any one category,you can apply.It really does not matter from which stream you belong to but you will have to give apply under any of these four categories.

Sorry dear

You cannot apply as a computer science engineer for the IES examinations but being an electronics and communication engineer ,you are eligible for this examination.

IES stands for Indian Engineering services.



This examination is conducted by union public service commission.the eligibility criteria for this examination is:

1.You must hold bachelor's degree in engineering in the following branches:

>>Civil engineering

>>Electrical engineering

>>Mechanical engineering.

>Electronics and telecommunication engineering.


2.Final year candidates are also eligible for this examination.

>>You should not have any active backlog at the time of examination.

3.AGE:

>>For general: 21-30 years.

>>For other backward caste: 21-33 years

>>For SC/ST: 21-35 years.

4.No of attempts:

>>For general :4

>>For other backward caste: 7

>>For scheduled caste or tribe: unlimited.

but you are not eligible for the same because computer engineering branch is not available in IES exam because in IES exam only this 4 branch engineering student can apply only.Allowed branches are mentioned below.


1.CIVIL ENGINEERING
2.ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
3.ELECTRONIC AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
4.MECHANICAL ENGINEERING


QUALIFICATION OF IES EXAM-:


*MUST BE AN INDIAN
*MUST BE GRADUATE FROM GOVERNMENT RECOGNIZED UNIVERSITY
*AGE -:
~GEN-: 21 - 30
~OBC-: 21 -33
~SC/ST-: 21 - 35
~5 RELAXATION FOR GOVERNMENT SERVANT
*ATTEMPTS-:
~GEN-: 4
~OBC-: 7
~SC/ST-: No Limit.



BUT DON'T WORRY AND DON'T LOOSE YOUR HOPE
You can apply for other UPSC exam like-:

2.IPS
3.CDS
4.IRS
5.IFS

yes, a computer Engineer can also apply for IES exam. but you have to give the exam by choosing any one category from the following four categories

1. Civil Engineering
2. Mechanical Engineering
3. Electrical Engineering
4. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

You can't apply as ECE student. You can apply as any category from the upper listed categories.

Hi Aspirant,

Sorry friend I think you are not eligible to give the IES exam of UPSC.

Because UPSC doesn�t include the candidates of ECE branch in IES exam.

To be appear in IES exam you should have technical degree one of the following stream given below:

Electrical

Electronics and Telecommunication

Civil

Mechanical


Age criteria

You should be 21 to 30 years old

Age relaxation

SC/ST + 5 years

OBC + 3 years

Citizenship

You must be Indian.

yes a computer science engineer can apply for IES exam

***************ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA****************

--The candidate must be citizen of India.

--The candidate must be a engineering graduate for applying.

--M.Sc students with electronics,radio physics,etc..can also apply on this examination.

--Generally four departments are preferred for IES examination.

And they are___________________________________________

1)Civil Engineering
2)Mechanical Engineering
3)Electrical Engineering
4)Electronics and communication Engineering.

As you are a computer engineer there is no such examination in IES pattern.
But you can give IES examination with one of the above listed departments.
And it will be better for you to give this examination by taking Electronics and communication Engineering.As there are many topics in this department related to your Computer Science department.

No you can't apply for IES being a computer engineer but ECE students can apply for IES

As per my information and experience of appearing in IES exam once goes,CSE does not come under any of the streams in IES.So,I am afraid you cannot apply for the same.You can always sit for IAS and other upsc exams though.For more details visit upsc.gov.in.Good Luck!

yes, is true, for ies exams age limit is not less than 21 years and more than 30.for ies exam you required any engineering graduate.some branch from following apply for ies exam,1)etc2)mechanical3)electronicks4)computermany enineering graduate are apply for IES EXAM.ALL THE BEST!

Yes, you can apply for IES exam as ECE stream.

Eligibility:-

-- You must be a engineering graduate to apply for the examination.
-- Final year candidate can also eligible to apply.
