prelims exam - 1 day, 2 papers of each 200 marks & 2 hrs.
main exam - 21 days,
paper I language 300 marks
paper II english 300 marks
paper III essay 200 marks
paper IV & V general studies, 300 marks for each paper
paper VI VII VIII & IX two optional subjects. 300 marks for each paper.

INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE (IES)

3 days
paper I general ability, 200 marks, 2 hrs
paper II & III odjective questions from relevant engineering subjects, 200 marks & 2 hrs each
paper IV & V conventional questions from relevant engineering subjects, 200 marks & 3 hrs each
