you can choose MATHEMATICS & HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY/PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION.
these will be easier for you to prepare.
but choosing optional subjects are based on one's interest & knowledge in that particular subject.

There are loads of options and entirely depends on what you prefer to choose from all these especially social sciences papers some of which are Indian History,Geography,Political Sciences,Economics,Law,Public Administration,Sociology and others like Mathematics,Agriculture,Animal Husbandry,Physic,Chemistry,Botany,Zoology,Managmen t,Statistics.For more details,visit http://upsc.gov.in

* You are a computer engineer and you want to prepare for UPSC CSE.

* You don't want to take science subjects for preparation. And there is no other subject related to computer for CSE mains preparation.

* So you can take any other subjects given by UPSC.

* You can take public administration and history; also you can take geography with political science.

you can choose public administration,geography or history.public administration will give you a lot of knowledge about India`s governance, system working and bureaucracy.

Hello,
If you want to appear in IAS exams then you can taken Arts subjects and commerce subjects. If you take Arts subjects then you can take sociology, Psychology, History, Political Science.

Arts subjects are as comfortable than science for all. You can take these subjects for mains, but you should have good writing skill.

History subjects not needs more writing skills, so you can take it in one option.

Public administration might be the perfect subject for you as it would not only help you to know the governance of the union but also score maximum marks.
History is also a good choice.
