dear candidate:
it fully depends on you and your time management skill. If you manege your time for job and proper study for civil services exam level than definitely you should job but if you do not give the proper times to your books than you should leave your job and study hard.
as far as concern regarding your study time you have to make a balance time table between your job and study
good luck

You have made a great decision and a brave one too.Simply lurge ahead with and you are having a long way to go.
Very few realise that the Civil Service exams conducted by the UPSC are not a cakewalk. They require huge dedication and loads of hard work.
So you have made a great decision to drop your placement issues and start preparing for the Civil Service exams.
Go ahead with your plans,as placement will keep happening but a post through the Civil Service exams could land you with the bestest thing ever.
Good Luck.

dear aspirant:
First thing i want to clear you that there are lacs of persons preaparing for UPSC Exams only and also there are lacs of aspirants who are preparing as well as engaged in job also.

* So it depends on you what you think and how you manage.

* If you are able to prepare for UPSC simultaneously with job you can and if you unable to manage or get tired after jobthen you should prepare without job.
upsc had also witnessed successful candidates who prepared while being in job also. So,they did it!In that case,it's entirely your decision. But whatever you do,stick to that til you don't crack upsc.Becoz once that done, you have a settled future.
wish u all the best

Hi friend!

I'd definitely suggest you concentrate on Civils itself rather than job and studying.

Re: What should be better for me - UPSC Preparation with Job or only Preparation separately without Job?

Hi Aspirant

Well it will totally depend on you and your interest

If you are very much interested in the upsc exam

Then you have to choose the upsc exam rather than the job

As it requires a lot of time to prepare your self for the exam

As you need at least 15 hours of preparation and it is not possible

If you are doing a job because you will get very less time for the preparation

And start preparing for the exam as of now

And work hard and hard and do daily practice and practice

Then the say is not too long when you will clear the cse exam

Best of luck

Re: What should be better for me - UPSC Preparation with Job or only Preparation separately without Job?

if you have not a good job right now dont worry
but if you want to clear the Upsc exam side by side have a part time job to run your dealy expenses should be a good idea. with thwe help of job you will not feel bad or bore from your study.
as far as concern regarding your study time you have to make a balance time table between your job and study

Re: What should be better for me - UPSC Preparation with Job or only Preparation separately without Job?

It entirely depends on how you can manage. Are you sure that you will be able to prepare for upsc as well as continue your job as upsc preparation needs lots of dedication, hard work, tenacity, stamina and above all time for preparation. In that case,it is always better if you prepare solely for upsc. But upsc had also witnessed successful candidates who prepared while being in job also. So,they did it!In that case,it's entirely your decision. But whatever you do,stick to that til you don't crack upsc.Becoz once that done, you have a settled future!Good Luck!

Dear Archana,

* You are confused between preparation and job+preparation.

* First thing i want to clear you that there are lacs of persons preaparing for UPSC Exams only and also there are lacs of aspirants who are preparing as well as engaged in job also.

* So it depends on you what you think and how you manage.

* If you are able to prepare for UPSC simultaneously with job you can and if you unable to manage or get tired after jobthen you should prepare without job.

* I want to tell you that last year topper S. Divyadarshini was working in a bank while preparing for UPSC exams.

* So be confident and take this decision yourself.

Re: What should be better for me - UPSC Preparation with Job or only Preparation separately without Job?

You may consider concentrating solely on IAS preparations; However a former IAS topper (2006)Mona Pruthi stated in an interview that she was able to achieve the feat while she herself was employeed in a firm, she was able to do it with Concentration, clever use of available time and resources. (It should also be noted that many of the successful candidates were already employed while appearing for their exams.) Taking into account your monetary status, willingness and obviously, strictly on your discretion may chose to follow any of the path you are comfortable. Thank You

What should be better for me - UPSC Preparation with Job or only Preparation separately without Job?

Glad to be with you sir! i'm doing my final year Btech IT.In our college recruitment process have been started from the month of august 2011. almost all the students got placed except few. i am one among them. This is because, i have given a written letter to the placement and training dept saying. i am going for higher studies(UPSC). i just wanted to make myself clear that, should i get placed and prepare for UPSC side by side or should i not go for placement and to concentrate fully on preparing for UPSC exams for one complete year. but i'm sure that i cannot prepare for UPSC in part time. i definitely want to get in to a good job under CIVIL SERVICS. and i'm sure that i'll work hard for it, by joining the best institution for UPSC/TNPSC coaching.
my question is JOB UPSC preparation or ONLY UPSC FOR ONE COMPLETE YEAR?? i have scored 90% in both 10 th and 12th board exams! i'm capable of hardworking i believe! thank you!

- Archana
