Dear candidate,
Stenography is a job where You can find a less competition, because there are large number of vacancy, but the candidates are not sufficient. A stenographer takes the detection of his officer and type it on the computer. Besides it, he can take other administrative works of the office as he is entrusted. At the time of detection, he must have a good speed i.e., 80 w.p.m. or 100 w.p.m. The UPSC conducts the S.O. steno for the departmental examination. So as you are a new, so you have to qualify the ssc grade C & D examination which is conducted by SSC every year. Therefore You have to learn the stenography and typing properly. Then you can eligible to apply it.

dear friend the notification for the particular exam has not been made yet by the UPSC but you can check the exam date at upsc.gov.in and then go to the calender you will get all the details and yes basically a steno holds the office as an assistant and is very responsible person so dear just go for it

The dates for S.O./Steno (GD-B/GD-I) Ltd. DEPTTL. Competitive Exam 2012 have been announced. The start date for receiving the application is 21/07/2012 and the end date will be 17/09/2012

I have heard a lot about STENO but i don't know much about it so kindly provide detailed information about the post and work performed by this officer. Recently i cam to know that upsc conducts exam for that so provide full information about it .
