Sorry to say dear you are not eligible for the exam when you appear in the 3rd year of the b.tech.
Upsc requirement the candidate must have complete the graduation in any stream from the approved university.
Final year or final semester candidates are also eligible for the exam.
But you are in the second last year of the degree so you are not eligible for the exam
The age limit for the exam is the 21 to 30 years for the unreserved category
The age relaxation for the reserved category
For more information you update with the www.upsc.gov.in
Best of luck for the exam

Eligibility for UPSC Indian Administrative Services - IAS exam :

A bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks for general category and 5% marks relaxation for reserved categories as SC/STs so they should have at least 45% marks

All UPSC IAS aspirant's age should be between 21-30 years and upper age relaxation will be given only to reserved category candidates which is 5 years for SC/STs and 3 years for OBC categories

Note : All those aspirants who are pursuing final year exam are not eligible to apply for this exam but if the candidate is waiting for the declaration of the result can apply for this exam

If you are awaiting for your final year result and sure about the result that you will get the expected aggregate percentage marks then you can apply for this exam but if you entered in final year and got admission then you can not apply for this exam.

Re: Will I be eligible to appear in IAS exam while pursuing 3rd year B.Tech?

    Dear friend,

as mentioned in the notification of upsc civil services examination that the minimum educational qualification is required for the same is graduation from a govt recognized university.

but final year student are also eligible to sit in the examination but they have to submit their degree and mark sheet at the time of interview,

as you are in 3rd year now and your degree course is for four years so you are not eligible to sit in the examination because you are not in the final year.

so i advise you to first complete your graduation and than you can apply for the same ,

it seems that you have not enough knowledge about civil services examination which is must.

so here i share some information ,it will help you to increase your knowledge.

    qualifications required:-

    1. you must be the citizen of India.

    2. yo must be a graduate from a govt recognized university .

    age criteria:-
the required age limit is 21-30 years and the age relaxation is given for obc category and st/sc category students of
    3 and 5 years respectively,
there are also an age relaxation for central govt. employee and physically handicapped persons of 5 years and 10
    years respectively.

    no. of attempts allowed:-
