No you are not yet eligible for Special Class Railway Apprentices(SCRA) examination as you age does not lie between the age limit set by UPSC for SCAR.

Minimum age to appear for SCRA: 17 years.

Maximum age to appear for SCRA(for Generals): 21 years.

Maximum age to appear for SCRA(for OBC): 24 years.

Maximum age to appear for SCRA(for SC/ST): 26 years.

Other Qualification Required for SCRA:

-> Must pass Senior Secondary or Intermediate or equivalent exam from any central/state govt. affiliated board.

-> Must study Mathematics and any one of Physics and Chemistry.

-> Must pass Senior Secondary Examination with First or Second Division.

-> Candidate who are currently final year(Pass Out can apply) of graduation in Mathematics or Physics can also apply for SCRA.

-> Must be a citizen of India or subject of Nepal or Bhutan.

Sorry to say that but you cannot give SCRA examination according to your present age.


The eligibility criteria required for the SCRA examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from any recognised board.

* Age limit:- 17-21 yrs.

* Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBC, 5 yrs for SC/ST and 10 yrs for PWD contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.

SCRA is the exam which is conducted by the upsc once in an year.
But I am sorry to say but you are not eligible for giving the SCRA exam being the age of 16.5 years. The reason behind this is, you need to be a 12th class passed/appeared and your age should not be less than 17 years and not more than 21 years and as your age is less than 17 years therefore you are not eligible for giving this exam

SCRA-Special Class Railway Apprentice.
Exam for recruitment of engineers in group A post for Indian Railways.

Criteria and eligibility for SCRA
1)passed 10+2 or any intermediate level examination with minumum second division.
2)Mathematics and with any one subject between physics and chemistry.
3)17 years to 21 years

Examination process
Written in three parts
First phase-English,General Knowledge
Second Phase-chemistry or physics
Third phase-msthematics

Interview consisting of 200 marks.

SCRA allow candidates to study mechanical engineering at Indian Institute OfElectrical And Mechanical Engineering,Jabalpur.
Stipend of rs.10,000 is provided.

Tough competition,vacancies are nearly only in two digits 10 to 12 mostly.
Lakhs of students apply.
Cracking percentage is nearly 0.01%.

Exam conducted once in a year ,by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission),in the month of July,notifications are released in month of February.

SCRA is stands for Special class Railway apprentices .The exam conducted by UPSC.SCRA is a big organization of Indian Railway recruitment board .

Every year near about 100000 students are appeared the SCRA exam but near about 100 are selected.

The Eligibility criteria of the exam are given below:

Educational Qualification:- 12th pass with 1st/2nd div. in physics/ chemistry & Math.

Age limit: minimum 17 year & not more than 21 year

You must be a Indian citizen.

So,according to the age point of view you are not eligible for SCRA exam.
You are 16.5 years old but you can apply for the exam at the age of 17 year.

**to write the scra a 12th standard with 50% marks is needed.

After clearing the exam candidate to go for 4(four)years training after that final posting to be alloted to trainers' of scra.

@@@ at this moment you can write n.d.a of upsc to join defence sector of india as age eligibility start's from 16.5 years to 19 years.

To appear for SCRA exam you should be 17 years of age. You are 16.5 years hence you have to wait for some time if you want to apply for SCRA exam.

For SCRA exam you should have physics and mathematics in 10+2 .

SCRA is special class railway apprentice exam . The age limit for 17 to 21 years.

The selection is based on the written exam and interview.

If you pass the tests then you will undergo 4 years of training and you will get stipend when you will be doing your training.

After completing your training you will work as apprentice in Indian Railways.

You did not mention your exact date of birth so that i could provide you the actual information about the exam which is going to be announced in 2013 but at least you are going to complete 17 years of age so that you would be eligible to appear for UPSC - Special Class Railway Apprentices exam under Indian Government and you should have completed 12th class with at least 50% marks then you would be eligible to apply for this exam and for more details and information you should keep visiting at www.upsc.gov.in

The age criteria for the exam is below :

=> There are 5 years age relaxation for sc/st cast .

So as per your current age you can't give the exam .

SCRA Stands for Special Class Railway Apprentice Examination. This Examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission.

Only those candidates are eligible to apply for SCRA Exam who fulfill the below mentioned :

a) Educational Qualifications : 12th with minimum of 55% marks from any recognized board.

b) Must have passed 12th with PCM as your key subjects.

c) Age : 17-21 years.

d) Nationality : Indian.

SCRA Examination is considered as one of the toughest examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission with just 44 seats all over India.

So , It requires hard labour and quite well prepare to crack this examination.

Yes,you can apply for SCRA exam.SCRA exam is conducted by Indian railways to select candidates for studies related to railways etc.Some information about SCRA is as following-

1 you must have maths and physics as compulsory subjects in class12th.

2 min 60 % in class 12th for general category students

3 exam is conducted every year so ,you must see the notification about exam after August.

4 other topics which are asked in exams like GK,current affairs and some knowledge of Indian railways can be prepared from reference books by Arihant publication.

The exam is conducted once every two years.

Educational Qualifications:-

You must have passed your 10+2 with first or second division from a recognised University/ board.

You must have Mathematics with atleast Physics & Chemistry as one of the subjects.

Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects may also apply.

Age Limit:-

A candidate must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have attained the age of 21 years on 1st January, 2013.

There is an upper age limit relaxation given in case of reserved Categories:-

5yrs in case of SC/ST.

3yrs in case of OBC.

10yrs in case of PH.

Sorry you are not eligible to apply for this examination . To apply for this examination , you must have a minimum 17 years of age at the time of appearing for this examination and 2013 exam notification details was already released and it is available in the official website .

SCRA Stands for Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination and this examination is conducted by UPSC Once in a year .

As per the 2013 announcement , Applicant must not born earlier than 2nd January , 1992 and not later than 1st January 1996 . (i.e the applicant must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have attained the age of 21 years at the time of appearing and Upper age limits is also applicable for this examination ).

So according to the you are age limits , you are not eligible to apply for SCRA Examination .

But if you are interested you can apply for the NDA Examination , NDA Stands for National Defence Academy Examination and it is conducted twice in a year .

Eligibility of NDA ::

-->> 12th with from a recognized School .

SCRA stands for the Special class railway apprentice examination.

1.In terms of education requirements ,you must have passed the 10+2 with PCM subjects from a recognised board with minimum 60% marks.Even if your 12th appearing then also eligible to apply for the exam.

2.Second is the age criteria ,you need to have attained the minimum age of 17 years and maximum age limit is 21 years.No relaxation is provided to any one.

3.You need to be an Indian citizen.


So donot worry ,after attaining 17 years ,you can give the SCRA exam next year.Prepare with full determination as it is a tough exam and there is limited seats.
