for civil services MAINS EXAMINATION the candidate has to opt two subject for the following set of subjects .
the combination of the subjects that need almost similar study or preparation are not allowed.

the subjects you can chose are
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science,
Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering,
Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering,
Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics,
Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics,
Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration,
Sociology, Statistics, Zoology.


your combination of subject is very good and fully allowed by upsc .

Sociology21.statistics22. Zoology23. Physics24. Public administration25. Electrical engineeringaccording to the above list you can also choose sociology and the psychology as an optional subject.

if you have interest & knowledge in sociology & psychology,
you can choose.

my option is better you can choose mathematics as one subject.

EXAM PATTERN FOR I.A.S. EXAM:-

1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Interview

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION:-



MAIN EXAMINATION:-

This exam consists of 9 papers.
Time duration for each paper is 180 minutes.

YOU CAN TAKE SOCIOLOGY & PSYCHOLOGY IN MAIN EXAM.

Hello,
Of-Course as a IT student you can choose Sociology Subject. There is no any restriction that you have to choose only Science subject.

You are fully free to choose any stream Subject.

Don't Think anything you are choosing good subject. If you have good writing skills then you can crack the IAS Exam.

list of subjects are:
agriculture,animal husbandry and vetinary science,botany,chemistry,civil engineering,commerce,economics,electrical engineering,geography,geology,Indian History,law,mathematics,mechanical engineering,medical science,philosophy,physics,political science,psycology,public administration,sociology,statistics,zoology.
yes,you can choose any two of them as main subject being an it student.
