Hi...friend in your question you mentioned that now you are studying B.E and willing to prepare for UPSC exam .....see my friend the preparation for UPSC exam is completely depend on your time management and my suggestion is first of all concentrate on your studies after that go head to crack the UPSC exam...coming to the methods to prepare for UPSC is practice each every paper and repeat the same process till you understand the each and every point on that subject ...any way my friend all the best ...

Prepare you subject papers well both objective and subjective wise, try to solve problems form agarwals aptitude and reasoning,read daily news papers.

Well to crack upsc or any exam for that matter you first need to understand the constitution of that exam...
what things are more important which portions get better score
which sections to concentrate on first, the time horizon of preparation.
Which books to study. etc etc.
Now for UPSC exam you need a longer time horizon ( considering general public .. not the prodigies.

generally a 2 years concentrated preparation is required.Even toppers agree on having started preparations since pre-final year. that is not concerning the fact that they generally started reading magazines,IAS interviews GK, writing essays in competition much before in school itself.
so for those who have not been doing it you need longer periods.

IN UPSC SELECTION of OPTIONALS is of paramount importance.
It can make or break your chances.If you choose well you may feel confident and easy during preparation.::Do not just follow the herd, choose according to your interest,
though some subjects have traditionally yielded better results for aspirants.. you choose them only if you have sound interest
Further selection of good reference materials and Books to study from
Support/help from good teachers also plays an important part. as it reduces burden to a large extent and also simplifies preparation... you et benefit of well researched material
and their years of experience comes handy for you.
For that purpose i would suggest that Delhi is the best place with best coaching and
right competitive environment.
Apart from that nothing less than a fanatic devotion would help, you have to be savage
person who obsesses with studies .. with a liittle smart work and good dedication
you shall thrive over one of the toughest examinations in the world.
Make a habit to read news papers ( 3per day), read magazines like Chronicle CSR
yojna, pratiyogita darpan monthly. also practice writing and rewriting /critical arguments
counter views ec. on Editorial topics. Read IAS interviews to inspire yourself and learn their secrets.

go for the coaching class in the evening or go for the coaching class in week end by that you can finish coaching with this four years

its great that u r dnd B.E. which will help u alot in cracking the UPSC.. u need to do some simple things but regularly
1. study ur each subject n try to understand every real concept behind it..
2. make a time table for ur study n devote a particular fix time for UPSC exam
3. Many subjects of B.E. are helpful in UPSC
4. Go through all previous papers and try to slove them..

Iam doing my first year B.E.I wish to prepare for the upsc exam while studying.people say it is difficult to prepare for the upsc exams while studying and so we need to spend a seperately one year for the preparation.i wish to chunk my work into 4 years and prepare for the exam while studying by engineering course itself.so would you please guide me how to prepare for the upsc exams while doing my B.E degree??????????
