Re: Whether the Number of Attempts in UPSC exam is counted separately for each exam or in Combination with all?

    Dear friend,

There are many exams conducted by UPSC and all exams have different eligibility criteria.

Mainly the exam which gives more attention on no. of attempts is Civil Services examination and IES and IFS exam.

For all these three exams the no. of attempts is restricted and it is counted separately for these three exams:-

For General It is 21 to 30 yrs.

For OBC its 21 to 33 yrs.

For SC/ST It is 21 to 35 yrs.

For PH- It is 21 to 40 yrs.

For exams like NDA , SCRA and CDS there is no restriction on no. of

attempts but there is restriction on the age limit which automatically

restricts you on giving the exams in that provided age limit.

*** For NDA the age limit is between 16.5 to 19 yrs,
and so you can give this exam till this age.

*** Likewise for SCRA you can appear for SCRA between 17 to 21 yrs of age.

So friend Do not worry much in this regard, Instead work hard and prepare for the examination whichever you want to apply for.

For details regarding notification of exam you must visit the official website of UPSC.

All forms can be filled online and you will find all types of queries related to the exams.

Re: Whether the Number of Attempts in UPSC exam is counted separately for each exam or in Combination with all?

There are certain limits for giving the UPSC CSE exam for every cast candidates like

    4 for general cast
    7 for obc cast
    no limit for sc/st cast

This no of attempt is only for CSE exam.

The other exams taken by UPSC have different limits for giving the exam.

So above limits are only for Civil Service exam.

    Thank you...

Re: Whether the Number of Attempts in UPSC exam is counted separately for each exam or in Combination with all?

    - UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission.

    - The main function of this commission is to recruit group A officers for various departments of central government of India.

    - For the above purpose it conducts various exams.

    - In some exams the number of attempts for General candidates are only 4 and for OBC candidates are only 7.

    - These attempts are counted seperatly for every exam.

    - For exampale if you apply for CDS exam then it will not be counted for Civil Services Exam.

    - The attempt in Indian Civil Services Exam is only counted when you sit in Indian Civil Services Prelims exam.

    - So if you have any type of doubt regarding attempt then now it is clear.
