    Hello friend,
There is a limited number of time you can attempt the civil service exams.
    For General - 4 times
For OBC / PH -7 times
For Sc/St - No limitation on number of attempts.

But the age limit is also a important part to apply for civil service.
    Age limit:
For general 21 year minimum & maximum 30 year on 1st August on the year of examination.
Upper age limit relaxed for :-
    OBC-3 year
    SC/ST-5 year
    Physical Handicapped-10 year
    Jammu & kashmir domicile (1980-1989)- 5 year
special cases of Defence Personnel - 3 year
Ex service man -up to 5 year maximum age relaxation.
civil service exams counducted by UPSC every year.you mention your date of birth12/03/1985. is so,if you are belongs to General category then you should apply for UPSC civil service exam maximum 2 times.
    Thank you.

Re: My date of birth is 12th March 1985. How many chances are left over for me to appear in UPSC Civil Services Exam?

    Hello friend

    see the age criteria first,

    Age criteria:-

the age criteria is different for different category of candidates.

    # for general category:- 21-30 years.

    # for obc category:- 21-33 years.

    # for sc/st category:- 21-35 years.

so as you see above the age criteria your chances depends upon your age and your previous attempts.

we can't tell you that how many chances you have left because we don't know about the no. of previous previous attempts of exam.

you should see the details about the number of attempts allowed to the candidates according to their category .

    No of attempts allowed:-

    # for general category: only 4 attempts.

    # for obc category:- 7 attempts.

    # for sc/st category:- no any restriction.

so you have at least 3 more chances if you had not sit in the examination before because you are at present 28 years old and if you are a general category aspirant than you have only three more chances left ,

so if you want to join civil services of India then start prepare for the same and appear in the examination next year.

    good luck@@

UPSC Civil Services Exam(CSE) is one of the toughest and most competitive exam at the All India level.
UPSC CSE is held once in a year for aspirants willing to join various services/posts like IAS,IPS,IFS,etc.
It is held to make selections for 24 services /posts according to the vacancies in a paticular year.
Posts are allotted to candidates based on their performance and rank in the final merit list.

    Eligibility For CSE :

    Age Limit :

    General Category-
21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam
    OBC-21-33yrs

    SC/ST-21-35yrs

    Educational Qualification :

    Minimum educational qualification
to appear in the CSE is,
    A Bachelors Degree
in any discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognised University.
    Final year
appeared/appearing candidates can also compete provisionally.

    Attempts :

    General Category-4 times

    OBC-7 times

    SC/ST-Unlimited times
According to your D.O.B. i.e.12th March 1985 your age on 1st August 2013 will be 28+yrs.
So if you belong to General category you can apply till 30yrs of age i.e. 2 attempts more.

Re: My date of birth is 12th March 1985. How many chances are left over for me to appear in UPSC Civil Services Exam?

    Hello

The age limit for the different categories are mentioned as below-
1)21 to 30 years for the general category.
2)21 to 33 years for the OBC(Other Backward Classes).
3)21 to 35 years for the SC/ST,ex-service man government .
4)21 to 40 years for the physically handicapped challenged.

Now your birthday is on 12/3/1985 and the present age is 28 years ,then if you belong to the general category then you have 2 attempts left.

The while logic is that your age must be 21 years minimum and must not be more than 30 years on the 1st day of August in the exam year.
This the logic that is followed by the UPSC,when calculating age for the UPSC civil services.

For more details visit the website of the UPSC.

Re: My date of birth is 12th March 1985. How many chances are left over for me to appear in UPSC Civil Services Exam?

Dear, If you belongs to the unreserved/general category then you have the three chance to left otherwise unreserved category has four chance to give the exam. You have complete the age 27 years and you have 3 years left and 3 chances to left. Because the age limit for the exam is the 21 to 30 years.
If you belongs to the reserved category like as the OBC or SC/ST category then you have the chance:-
Age relaxation for the OBC category is the 3 years and attempt the exam 7 times then you have the 5 chance to attempt the exam.
Age relaxation for the SC/ST category is the 5 years and no limit to the attempt chance till you complete the age 35 years.

    Best of luck
