    Dear pal,
    • After engineering one is left with two wide option either to do masters in Engineering or go for work either in public sector or private companies .
    • To do masters in engineering one need to appear in GATE exam that is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology . The exam is held every year and the score is valid for two years. GATE is conducted in all the engineering disciplines . The syllabus for the exam is same as the subjects that are dealt in bachelor degree in engineering
    • If you prefer to do Service then prepare for the Indian engineering service qualifying which one is eligible to do job in various engineering jobs available under central government .
    • The screening process includes main exam which includes two papers namely objective and descriptive type qualifying which one need to appear in the personnel interview.

Re: Should I Prepare for IES or GATE exam after completing B.E?

if you are B.E/B.Tech in CIVIL/MECH/ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS & TELECOMMUNICATIONS then only you can apply for IES exam

syllabus for both GATE & IES are almost same. but you have to work much hard for IES comparing to GATE.
he Engineering Service Examination is basically conducted only in the following disciplines of engineering:

    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
if you clear IES exam means then you will be a central govt. GRADE A officer.

suppose if you get good qualified score in GATE means you can also apply for PSUs like BHEL,NOGC,POWERGRID,BEL,BARC,etc., or you can do higher studies.

if you clear IES exam means then you will be a central govt. GRADE A officer.

Well my dear friend it will depend on your choice dear

My dear both Tests have their own importance

Ies Stands For Indian Engineering Services

And In Ies you will get very much reputed post

And your future will be safe because you get government post like such higher rank

On the other hand my dear Gate Stands for Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering

Which is itself a reputed test my dear if you get good rank then you will get a good college

And dear your future will be also safe after clearing the exam with good marks

All in one dear it's your choice so choose the option which you likes

    hello!!!!
its really good to go for IES,but if you will first prepare your self for your gate exam then you will be getting a chance to improve yourself in IES as there's not so much difference in GATE exam and IES.You can find your mistakes and your weaknesses to give your best in IES exam.So go for the first step and then move forward .

Re: Should I Prepare for IES or GATE exam after completing B.E?

I will suggest you that prepare for GATE examination as it is much easier than IES examination.

By scoring good score in GATE you have the chances for M-TECH through NIT's,IIT's besides that other psu's, many govt. organisation considers GATE score for the qualification.

only you have to appear for a objective paper for 2 hours.

    WHILE

In IES there is general ability section is also besides that technical paper which means that you need to study arts field's also.

If you want to do the master degree in IIT or NIT then and then you should prepare for the GATE exam but if you want the government job then you can go to the IES exam .
In both exam the syllabus is same so you prepare for the both exam also and you can apply for the both exam also , so first decide what you want to do the job or master degree then prepare for the exam . All the Best

    dear candidate

gate = graduate aptitude test in engineering

    ies = indian engineering service

if you have complete your graduation in the engineering it is depends upon you whether you want to go for gate or ies.

For indian engineering services the eligibility criteria is

Candidates age limit is 21 to 30 years
    candidate should be an indian
candidate may belong to any category for example. General, obc,sc,st etc.

If any candidate prepare for the ies then it the candidate will get more exposure in the indian engineering service than gate or graduate aptitude test in engineering.

the important date for the ies was

    date of notification 10-03-2012
    last date for application 09-04-2012
    exaqm date 15-06-2012

candidate can also get information from the upsc website or from the employment news paper at the opening of these vacancies.
