This stage is the best stage for preparing the UPSC examination. So as a English and Sociology student, I think you can do well in the examination because both subjects are mark fixing subject. Well, If you choose the Tata Mcgrawhill's book for English literature and Sociology and also General Studies, then it will be better. The NCERT books are also best books for gaining the basic knowledge. You have also to read some competitive magazines like Pratiyogita Darpana, IAS's GURU, Civil Services Chronicle etc. and follow the successor's view on it. Ok then start with a well-planned time table and the success must be yours. Best of Luck

Yes you can. You can also apply for the UPSC examination. If a candidate appearing in his university final year examination then he/she can apply for the UPSC exam.

First of all you have to go through the Question Pattern for which exam you want to appear. You can download and print Previous Years Question Papers at www.upsc.gov.in

NCERT books are best for the basic knowledge because it covers full syllabus of UPSC.

You can also practice more and more MODEL Question Papers from a sample paper by which you can experience to the Questions coming in UPSC exams.
