yes dear you can apply for the IES exam at the age of 28 years because the age limit for giving this exam is 21-30 years for the general category.
Whereas the age limit for the obc and the sc/st category is 21-33 and 21-35 years respectively.

Dear friend,

Yes why not. You are fully eligible for the exam.

IES stands for Indian engineering services.

The exam is conducted by UPSC once every year.

See you are eligible to appear for the exam you belong to any one of the category as you fulfill the age required criteria.

Basically the age limit is same as it is for civil services exam.

For general it is 21 to 30 yrs.

For OBC it is 21 to 33 yrs i.e, 3 yrs of age relaxation provided.

For SC/ST It is 21 to 35 yrs i.e, 5 yrs of age relaxation.

For PH It is 21 to 40 yrs i.e, 10 yrs of age relaxation.

As you can see that you are eligible for the exam belonging to any of the categories so there is nothing to much worry about.

Just prepare well for your exam and do hard work as this exam needs a good preparation.

To give IES exam the basic degree that you require is Graduation in any of the Engineering Branch like mechanical, civil, electrical etc.

The point that is to be kept in mind is no. of attempts as it is limited. Here below you can see that it is different for different categories.

Like the ones belonging to General can give only 4 attempts.

The ones who belong to OBC can give 7 attempts.

And SC/ST have no restrictions. they can give unlimited attempts tillthey reach their upper age limit.

21-30 years for General
21-33 years for OBC
21-35 years for SC/ST
21-35 years for Ex servicemen
21-40 years for Physically handicapped

You are 28 now which means you will be eligible for IES 2014 whichever category you belong to.

IES, Indian Engineering Services Examination is conducted by UPSC for recruitment in various Government Departments like

Civil Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

Eligibility conditions for IES 2014 Exam are as follows:

Candidate must have an engineering degree from above mentioned disciplines no specific percentage is required.

candidate should be more than 21 years and less than 30 years of age for general category.

Upper age relaxation for reserved category candidates is as follows:

3 years for OBC.

5 years for SC/ST

10 years for PWD.

Exam pattern:

Written test

Personality test

So, if you satisfy the above mentioned educational criteria, then you can surely apply for the exam with your age as the upper age is 30 years.

check whether you fit in the criteria mentioned below:
1. Nationality : Indian
2. Academic qualification : Graduate in engineering in any stream from any recognized university.

Yes ,you are eligible for Indian Engineering Services because maximum age for apply in this exam is 30 years.
Candidates must have bachelor degree of Engineering from a recognized university.
Candidates must be an Indian citizen or subject of Bhutan and Nepal.
Exam conducted by UPSC in the month of june/july.
Written Exam - Total papers is five and each papers contain 200 marks.

the eligibility criteria for IES is:
1.you must be a b.tech degree holder from a recognised university.
2.your age must lie inbetween 21 to 30 for general category.However age relaxation is there of 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years SC/ST/PD category candidates.
3.there is restriction of 4 attempts for general category candidates,7 times for OBC candidates and no restrictions for SC?ST candidates.

Since your age is 28 years you are eligible on basis of age.

IES(Indian Economic services) exam is organised by the UPSC.

You should have some of the eligibility fulfilled:-
You need to have completed the graduation from an recognized university.
You must be the citizen Of India.
The age limit for this examination is from 21 years to 30 years.
The Age relaxations of three years is given to the OBC category students.
The Age relaxations of five years is provided to the St/Sc category students.

You should have these criteria fulfilled to apply for IES exams.
Your age is only 28 so you can apply for a job in IES.
