Examination Pattern for UPSC Geologist Examination

1	GENERAL ENGLISH	100 MARKS	3 HOURS
2	GEOLOGY PAPER I	200 MARKS	3 HOURS
3	GEOLOGY PAPER II	200 MARKS	3 HOURS
4	GEOLOGY PAPER III	200 MARKS	3 HOURS
5	HYDROGEOLOGY	200 MARKS	3 HOURS
TOTAL		900 MARKS

All questions in this examination, will be asked in conventional type pattern and qualifying in each paper is mandatory so you have to prepare well for all mentioned subjects and mainly cover Geology and Hydrogeology subject because these are the most important subjects in examination and contains 800 marks so this score may take you to the interview process that is why first you have to cover the entire syllabus of your master's degree geology subject and get good proficiency in that subject and then use other books to prepare for this examination and learn more and in depth to be eligible for interview process

I have attached some previous years question papers for this examination so please download and use them in your preparation for good expertise

If you want to know that how to use these papers then I would like to suggest you that download all papers and read them carefully and do not leave a single topic also in that paper and then you have to analyze each paper with previous year paper and next year paper and see that what are the topics and points that are being asked again and related questions asked again in the same examination so you should make that topic strong because syllabus is not too much and you will see most common topics that you have completed already during your PG and then if you find a topic as - Shear Joints and tension joints in the year 2011 then this topic will not be asked in 2012 so you should try to read all other topics related to this point because something related will be asked in next examination that may be useful for you and use all papers in the same manner
