the notification for appying to UPSC civil services comes every year in the month of Jan/feb.
the last date to apply may be in march/april . you can refer upsc.gov.in website for notifications or employmentnews weekly.
you have to clear 3 stages of examination -preliminary, mains,interview.
Preliminary:
2 papers- 1) general studies
2) CSAT (civil services aptitude)
Mains:
candidates who cleared prelims, have to attend mains exam, which contains 9 papers
1)English language
2) any of the Indian languages
3) essay
4)general studies-2 papers
5) 2 optional subjects be chosen by the candidate- each subject has 2 papers
all the papers are descriptive type and options are of degree standard.
candidates who clear mains, are called for interview.
In case you fail in any of the stages, again you should start from the first(ie preliminary)
Fee structure:
for prelims 50 rs. (SC/ST/female candidates are exempted)
for mains 200 rs
