Civil service exam is mainly administration oriented and
Common Defense services is mainly armed forces oriented


Civil Service exam consists of

1. Indian Administrative Service(IAS)
2. Indian Foreign Service(IFS)
3. Indian Police Service(IPS)
4. Indian Revenue Service(IRS)

Combined defense service exam consists of

Indian armed forces like

Army, navy and air force

you can opt for CDS exams if you have a strong feeling for patriotism and courageous enough to save our motherland .

Only Unmarried men / women can apply for this post

training will be given at

• Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
• Naval Academy, Goa
• Air Force Academy, Begumpet, Hyderabad
• Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai

CDS exam is conducted twice in a year i.e in the month of February and September. The eligibility for CDS is as follows: EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: -Indian Military Academy/Officers Training Academy: degree from a recognized university. -Naval Academy: degree in engineering. -Air Force Academy: degree with physics and maths/B.E. AGE LIMIT: -Indian Military Academy: 19-24yrs. -Naval Academy: 19-22yrs. -Air Force Academy: 19-23yrs. -Officers Training Academy: 19-25yrs. You can apply after you complete your graduation.You can check the UPSC website for notification. www.upsc.gov.in

cds/civil services examination!!??? which one should i go for...i have done my b.tech cse from a reputed university...with a decent cgpa....please tell me the scope of cds/civil services???
i am really looking forward towards it..though i am more inclined towards civil services but i have found out that it requires lot of hard work and preparation for more than year..but as everyone knows civil services is really glamorous..but whats up with cds....can i start preparing in my 8th semester itself!!??? please guide me through!!!
