to be a customs officer and central excise(IRS OR indian revenue officer),the candidate should be a graduate in any discipline and should clear upsc and ssc exams respectively.

upsc conduct civil service exam which would held in 2 different stages i.e

1)preliminary exam

2)main exam

*only those are allowed to give civil service main exam who had qualified the preliminary exam.

-age=21-30 years.

after getting selected the candidates would face the 15 months rigorous training at national academy of customs excise and narcotics in faridabad.

the members of indian customs begin their career as assistant collector and reach upto chief collector.

the exam is CIVIL SERVICE EXAM{ all indian civil service are IAS(INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE and IPS(INDIAN POLICE FORCE).

To get these jobs you have to appear in UPSC Civil services exam. You will get various posts including these according to your score in the exam. After IAS and IPS these posts are mostly sought. So you need to score very good marks in the exam. In IRS after two years probation you will start as an assistant commissioner and can reach upto the level of chief commissioner and chairman of CBDT and CBEC. In IFS you will be posted outside India in various embassies for the most of your career. You can later be High Commissioners, Ambassadors or Foreign Secretary of India in IFS.
