Re: Should I take maths paper in CDS exam if opted IMA and OTA?
UPSC conducts the Combined Defence Services(CDS) Examtwicea year. Selections are made for the Naval Academy,Airforce Academy,Indian Military Academy(IMA) and Officers Training Academy(OTA).
To be eligible to apply for IMA & OTA you donot require to take maths as a subject at graduation level.
But when you appear in the CDS Exams you have to attempt an elementary Maths paper for IMA.
For OTA in CDS exams Maths is not required. So maths is infact not mandatory to apply for IMA & OTA. So the choice is upto you to take up maths or not in your degree level.
Eligibility For CDS Exams :
Age Limit : OTA-19-25yrs IMA-19-24yrs Airforce Academy-19-23yrs Naval Academy-19-22yrs

Re: Should I take maths paper in CDS exam if opted IMA and OTA?
Dear if you have applied for UPSC Combined Defense Service Examination then you should know that what are the subjects under each category
Subjects asked in IMA/INA/IAFA :
English Language - 100 marks
General Knowledge - 100 marks
Elementary Mathematics - 100 marks
Subjects asked in OTA - Officers Training Academy
English Language - 100 marks
General Knowledge - 100 marks
So that dear you have opted both IMA and OTA Academies as your preference so that you would have to appear for all 3 papers because of your Indian Military Academy section and if you had opted only one OTA then you would not have need to appear for mathematics paper in CDS Examination
