    Dear Guest,

    * You are a science student but you don't want to take science as your subject in UPSc exams.

    * You can take public admiistration, history, law and economics as your subjects

    * Don't confuse my friends it is on you that which subject you felt interesting and easy and choose the same.

    * Take your other points like coaching of that subject books etc . are available or not.

    Dear student
Its not at all necessary to chose science subjects.
You have very well chosen Public Administration as one of the subject for the UPSC as it is highly scoring.
And I would recommend you to in for Indian History as the other subject as its syllabus is limited and the combinations of these two subjects can prove beneficial in the interviews too.
    Good luck

    Hello,
It is not necessary to take Science subjects in UPSC exams you can take any subjects.

If you want to take Arts subjects then it is more simple. You can take History, Political Science/Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy etc. subjects.

If you have good writing skills then you can choose Sociology and Philosophy as subjects for the UPSC Mains exams.

    Wish you all the best,

    hi friend

if you are science student then there is nothing wrong in that..you have good option to continue your studies in a new subject..you can learn the new subject only if you want to go with.the only thing you required is to learn with full enthusiasm ..

between sociology and history, friend you know yourself much better than you..

think which you fells better for you ,which you can study easier because you are going to appear for the exam..

choice is yours,so think it twice, thrice before to choose

its not an easy task but also not a difficult one

    '' where there is a will,there is a way'

    good luck

    thankyou

    Hi Aspirant

Yes you can choose other subjects too

As it is not compulsory to choose the science subjects as if you are

A science student as upsc have given choice you can choose any of the optional subject

And you can choose history.geography or economics

Or any of the subjects in which you have interest and which you likes

As but gk is compulsory subject

    And rest are optional

Better would be to choose the subjects on your wish

    Best of luck

    Hi Aspirant,

Friend you can choose the subject of your desire.

As you mentioned that you are bio graduate.

In my suggestion you should at least choose one subject from your graduation subject.

Because you will be well familiar from these subjects and easy to learn for you.

You can choose one subject other like history, psychology, geography etc.

    List of optional subject

    Agriculture

    Animal husbandry & vetinary science

    Anthropology

    Botany

    Chemistry

    Civil engineering

    Commerce and accountancy

    Economics

    Geography

    Indian History

    Law

    Management

    Mathematics

    Mechanical engineering

    Medical science

    Philosophy

    Physics

    Political science & international relations

    Psychology

    Sociology

    Statistics

    Zoology

This is the list of optional subject now you can choose the subject.

You should choose History subject, it will be beneficial for you in General studies section.

    Best of Luck
