Forest conservator is an officer belonging to the Indian forest services .He is responsible for the :

1.Managing the forests

2.Forest protection

3.Environment and wild life issues related to the forest circle of a state or Union Territory of India.

He is the highest authority at circle level in forest department representing forest department of several districts.

Whereas Forest Ranger is an officer who is charged with the patrolling and guarding of a forest.
