Step-1 Written Test (CGL)
Step-2 Physical Test
Step-3 Interview
Step-1: The first step to join cbi as sub inspector isto clear the combined graduate level exam conducted by SSC. The writtenexam carry on 400 marks. Duration of this section will be 2 hours.
Step-2: Those candidates who clear the step-1 will then haveto qualify in the physical fitness round.
Height: 165 cms for male & 155 cms forfemale for general 162 for reserved category.
chest: 77 cms unexpanded and 85 cmsexpanded for general and 76 cms unexpanded and 81 cms expanded for reservedcategory (Only for Male)
Weight: according to height and age.
Visual Standard :6/6 right eye, 6/12 left eyeand 6/9 both eye for male and female
This round will carry on 100 marks
Step-3: Candidate qualifying the first two level will have toface interview. Only 50 % of the total vacancies are filled on the basis ofabove said procedures. 25 % of the vacancies are filled up by the departmentalASIs who meet the qualifications specified by the authority. The rest 25% vacancies are filled on the basis of Limited Departmental competitiveExamination.
There are minimum age should be between 20-25years to apply for this exam.

You can not join CBI after passing any of the exam of UPSC. UPSC is not the authorized body to recruit people for Central bureau of Investigation. In order to get into CBI you have to pass the examination of Combined Graduate level conducted by SSC. The basic requirement and MUST KNOW HOW are as follows :-
1. The CGL exam is conducted once in a year and notification for the same comes out in the month of March.
2. Age limit is 18-27 and relaxation also for SC/ST AND OBC candidate.
3. The exam is objective type and to get a post in CBI atleast 75% IS REQUIRED.
4. Two tier of exams are conducted and you have to qualify the all India of both the exam.
5. After that an interview session will be conducted.
