About Civil Services Examination
This exam is conducted every year by UPSC and the scheme of the exam is as under;
The whole examination is comprised of two stages.
1. Preliminary Examination
This is also called Civil Services Aptitude Test and is common test for all applicants.
This contains questions from General studies(History, Geography, Politics, Economics and social development, General Science) English Mathematical Aptitude etc.
2. Main Exam and Interview
Those who qualify Preliminary exam are called for Main exam and on the basis of marks in Main exam, candidates are called for Interview. The total marks of Main exam and Interviw are sum up to produce final result.
The Main examination will contain following papers
1. Essay type Indian Language Qualifying Paper (300 marks)
2. English Qualifying Paper (300 marks)
3. General Essay type paper (200 marks)
4. General Studies (Paper-I & II 300 marks each)
5. Optional subject-I(Paper-I & II 300 marks each)
6. Optional subject-II(Paper-I&II 300 marks each)
The subject for optional paper are as under.
You can choose any two of them. The choice is completely yours.

How to Prepare?:
First of all you are required to select the proper optional subjects
based on your knowledge a interests.
The preparation should be started with the General studies paper(Main) and syllabus of CSAT.
once you are done with a good quantity of the above, then you should start preparing for optional subjects and then the remaining papers of Main exam.
It is quite difficult to do the preparation without proper guidance
so you should consult some students who are already preparing for this and some coaching institute study material.
