In IES examination there are four categories. The categories are Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering and electronics and telecommunication. There are different posts in these four categories.
Civil Engineering:: 1. Railway Services. 2. Railway Stores Services. 3. Central Engineering Service. 4. Indian Ordnance Factories Services. etc.
Mechanical Engineering:: 1. Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineering. 2. Central Water Engineering. 3. Central Power Engineering etc.
Electrical Engineering:: 1. Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers. 2. Central Electrical Engineering Service. 3. Indian Naval Armament Service. etc.
Electronics:: 1. Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers. 2. Indian Naval Armament Service. 3. Assistant Executive Engineer Group. etc.
