For giving the upsc exam, you need to fulfill the eligibility criteria which states that you should be a graduate in any stream from a recognized indian university and your age should be in between 21-30 years.
A relaxation of 3 and 5 years is provided to the obc and sc/st students respectively in the age criteria while appearing in the exam.

UPSC is not a single exam . UPSC means Union Public Service Commission this conducts the many of the Exam. The Defence and Civil Service exam are conducted under the UPSC. So each exam has its own eligibilities.

>> Defence Exams

The Defence exam NDA and CDS exam are conducted by the UPSC. Both exam is conducted two times in a year.

NDA � National Defence Academy
CDS � Combined Defence Service Exam

The candidates who will clear the Intermediate such candidates can apply for the NDA exam. This exam is only for the Intermediate candidates only. And also age should be 16.5-19 years . if the candidates clear this exam then candidates can have the opportunity to join In the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air force

CDS exam is also conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The candidates who will clear this exam such candidates have the opportunity to join the Indian Defence fields. HI,

UPSC conducted There are 3 stage of exam.

Preliminary Exam : this would be objective type exam in which you will have to attempt two papers in a day and each paper would contain 200 marks so that the grand total becomes 400 and qualifying is important to appear for next exam.

Mains Examination : this would be descriptive type paper where you have to face 7 different papers and total marks would be 2000 for all 7 papers and you will have to be passed in this exam then you would be allowed to face interview process.

Interview Process : If you qualify both papers then you would be allowed to face interview and if you qualify the interview process then you would finally selected for civil services and you would be sent for 2 years training under the government then you will get the appointment.

Min Age is 21 and Max Age is 30 year for genaral candidate and

No age relaxation for any caste.

2>Technical Entry Scheme -
Age Limit - 161/2 to 191/2.
Qualification - Intermediate passed with physics ,chemistry and maths .
Minimum percentage is 70% in 12th.

3>Special Class Railway Apperentices -

The graduation from any discipline but must have physics and maths in 10+2 for NA and AFA.AGE LIMIT-19 TO 25(all combined)

3)NDA

4)PCS
any stream graduation age limit-19 to 25 years.

UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission.Every year UPSC will conduct variety of Entrance Exams to let the candidates to join in various public services. Have a glance over variety of Entrance Exams that are being conducted by UPSC.-CDS Exam-NDA Exam-CSAT Exam-SCRA Exam-IES Exam.The minimum academic qualification and age criteria to take these exams will be varied from one exam to other exam.You did not mention the highest academic qualification that you possess.I suggest you to take the respective Entrance Exam as per your qualification. Have good preparation for the Entrance Exam which you want to appear for and crack it.Once you have done with the written test, you have to attend for the Interview.

UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION IS MOST preferable examination for high paid govt jobs.


The Civil Services Examination is a challenge and thousands of candidates appear in it every year.

To achieve success in the exam, it is important to study in a focused manner, both for the Preliminary as well as for the Main Exam.
For an IAS aspirant, it is important to know the plan of the examination as well as what one might expect.

The examination consists of two parts: the Preliminary Examination (objective type), which is a qualifying examination, and a Main Examination consisting of written examination and interview.

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Exam are not counted in the Main Exam and it is only a screening exam. The Preliminary Exam is an objective type test.

One can appear in the Main Examination only after passing the Preliminary Exam.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the Preliminary Examination in May/June and the Main Examination is held in October/November.

UPSC board conduct various exams which are following :

Civil Services : Must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and your age should be between 21-30 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates.

Forest Services : Should have a bachelor's degree in - Chemistry/Botany/Mathematics/Physics/Zoology/Geology/Seed Technology/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Microbiology/ or in Agriculture or in horticulture or in Animal Husbandry and veterinary science and age should be between 21-30 years and relaxation follows same as mentioned above.

Engineering Services : Should have a bachelor's degree in engineering in any stream and age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years

Medical Services : Should have a bachelor's degree in medical or equivalent stream and age should be between 21-32 years

NDA Services : Should have passed in class 12th in any discipline for Indian Military and mathematics and physics for air force and navy jobs and age should not be less than 16.5 years and more than 19 years

SCRA Services : Should have passed class 12th and age should be between 17-21 years

Age Limits

you must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination.

Educational Qualifications


you must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.


Number of attempts


The maximum number of attempts restriction is effective from the examination held in 1984. In case other eligibility conditions apply:


General Caste: four attempts.
Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Caste: No restriction.
Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.

You should not have any criminal Records.
