ELIGIBILITY for UPSC Civil Service Exam:

Must have graduation degree in any discipline.

Must be an Indian Citizen.

Both Male & Female are eligible to apply for this Exam.

Must have Age between 21 to 33 years for General category, 21 to 35 for OBC & 21 to 35 for SC/ST.

Dear candidate the necessary requirements to appear UPSC Civil Services is as under.

1.Civil services conducted by UPSC every year.

2.Any graduate or a final year candidate from a recognized University in any discipline can write UPSC civil services.

3.AGE: Gen 21-30 years.OBC: 21-33 years.S.C./S.T.21-35 years.Pwd:21-40 years.

4.Nationality: Indian.Male/Female both can apply.

5.Attempts: To clear civil services a Gen.candidate can avail max 4 attempts,an OBC can avail 7 attempts.S.C S.T & PWD.No limit.

Dear candidate as an central Govt.employee and belong to S/C category you are to go through above conditions and you are quite fit to apply UPSC civil services.

21 to 30 years.


AGE RELAXATION :-

for obc 3 years.

for sc/st 5 years.

for ex-service men 5 years.



AGE RELAXATION FOR CENTRAL GOVT EMPLOYEE:-


if you are a central govt. employee and belonging to general category than your age limit is : 21-35 years.

if you are a central govt. employee and belonging to obc category than your age limit is :21-38 years.

if you are a central govt. employee and belonging to sc/st category than your age limit is : 21-40 years.

For schedule caste category candidates upper age limit upto 5 years .
Then age will be 21 to 35 years.
Attempts for sc categories in upsc civil service has no limit.
Age without relaxation - 21 to 30 years.
Nationality must be Indian citizen.
Candidates must be - Physically and mentally fit.

The different age limits are

~21 to 30 years for general candidate.
~21 to 33 years for OBC.
~21 to 35 years for SC/ST.
~21 to 35 years for ex-serviceman of government.

Hence you have total age relaxation of 10 years.

UPSC Civil Services Exam Eligibility Criteria is following as :

>> Candidate should posses a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university

>> Age should be between 21-30 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines

>> 5 years upper age relaxation for SC/STs and 3 years upper age relaxation for OBC category

>> 10 years upper age relaxation for PWD candidates and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen Candidates

UPSC Board provide relaxation in upper age as mentioned above and every category get relaxations according to the government rules so that you belong to SC category and a central government employee so that you can apply for IAS exam till 35 years of age after getting relaxation in upper age because the maximum age limit for general is 30 years so you will get 5 years upper age relaxation and there is no limit for you to apply for this exam as general for 4 times, OBC for 7 times means you can apply for this exam 35 years of age.

If you are under 35 years of age then you may apply for UPSC Civil Service exam between these following date and may appear for exam 2013 :

Start date for online application : 02-02-2013

Last date for online application : 04-03-2013

Date for UPSC Civil Service Exam : 19-05-2013

as an sc candidate the upper limit is 35 yrs ...
There is no quota for govt. Employees

as you know there is an age relaxation in upsc examination only for those candidates who are

belonging from sc/st or obc category .

The age relaxation for the same is as under.



Age criteria:-

for general :- 21-30 years.

For obc :- 21-33 years.

For sc/st :- 21-35 years.

* there are also an age relaxation for physically handicapped persons and the central govt.employee
of 10 years and 5 years respectively according to there category.


So for you the age criteria is as under according to your category.

* if you are general:- 21-35 years.

* if you are an obc:- 21-38 years.

* if you are sc/st :- 21-40 years.

upsc provides age relaxation to those candidate who belongs to OBC or SC/ST category,

candidates belonging to OBC gets age relaxation of 3 years .
age limits for the OBC candidates is 21 to 33 years


SC/ST category gets age relaxation of 5 years.
age limits for th SC/St candidates is 21 to 30 years.


also the candidates who are govt. employees gets age relaxation of 5 years ,
so for them age limits is 21 to 35 years.

as you are a candidate of SC category also along with that you are govt. employee also,
so dear friend you will get total age relaxation of 10 years,
5 years for SC category,
and 5 years for being a govt. employee,
so for you age limits is 21 to 40 years.

Dear Aspirant! As you belongs to central Govt. employee but also belongs to SC category , you have upper age limit to appear in UPSC Civil Services exam - 2013, you can get upper age limits of up to 45 years.... Good Luck...

Hi Aspirant,

Friend central government employee gets age relaxation in UPSC exam.

UPSC provide the age relaxation as per government norms

Ex service man: 5 years

SC/ST : 5 years

OBC: 3 years

PH: 10 years

As you mentioned that you belong to SC/ST category and you are ex service man.

So you will get double age relaxation.

So you will get the age relaxation of 10 years


The age limit for UPSC exam is 21 to 30 years.

So you can apply till the age of 40 years.


You must be graduate in any stream from UGC recognized college or university.

No certain marks of percentage required.

You must be Indian.

1. for general candidates : 21-30 years.

and if you are a central govt. employee and belonging to general category than your age limit is : 21-35 years.

The age limit for the CSE exam is below :
21-30 for general cast
21-33 for obc cast
21-35 for sc/st cast
21-35 for ex-serviceman
21-40 for physically handicapped

Now as you are in SC cast so that your maximum age limit is 35 years .

Maximum number of attempts that you can give :
4 for general cast
7 for obc cast
no limit for sc/st cast

So you can give any number of time exam .

But you have done your graduation .

So if you fulfill the above criteria then start the preparation for the exam and give it .

As you have said you are belong to SC category and you are a government employ, For your type of category you have 10 years of relaxation(5 years as SC and 5 years as Central Government employ) from general category candidate.
So, it means that for civil services Exam the age limit for you is 21 years to 40 years.

For CS exam you must also need graduation in any field. you can apply for CS exam online on http://www.upsconline.nic.in/
